Why? They come here to work. They're feeding themselves and finding their own housing. Your statement is puzzling at best.
Just to briefly comment on some things i've seen said in this thread, i'm too lazy to go back and quote people I'm sure the US does have its share of South American immigrants but for the most part the refugee crisis is fueled by gang/cartel warfare and extreme poverty in Central America. Gang and cartel violence is caused by human trafficking, for which the US creates a large portion of the demand. There is also large scale corruption in these nations, mostly because the cartels control everything I'm not sure what questions VG was referring to when he said he isnt allowed to ask questions....but the drug trafficking issue largely answers why Central American countries cant get their shit together (despite being settled by Europeans appearantly)
So you don’t have a problem with breaking a law of any kind? Is casual drug use on the same level as illegal immigration to you? Or something even worse like murder?
And can I just point out again Presenting yourself at a checkpoint and requesting asylum IS NOT illegal Maybe those of y'all who want to twist the conversation to make it about "illegals," as you kindly call them, should write that down to remember it
Oh don’t get me wrong. I support people who want to come here to live better lives via the legal pathway to get here. I think the East Coast could use some more Mexican chefs. There’s a deficiency of Mexican restaurants out there, and that’s fucked up. Can we prove that ALL of them are legitimately good mannered people who are escaping violence? How many of them are criminals or MS-13 members Can we prove that they’ll show up in court on their date for asylum hearing?
They were turned away from the checkpoint because they were told the detention center is full so now they're waiting in limbo Your article doesnt say they've snuck into the US, it says they climbed the wall and straddled it. They climbed and sat there. Are you criticizing them for sitting now?
so if some group of unknown people say the want to come into your home and you dont let them youre saying youd be ok if they sat on your fence and camped out on the sidewalk until you changed your mind about sharing your house?
Damnit How do you do the :eye roll: thing. The border of a country is not the same as private property, not sure if you knew that or not. And no I don't have a problem with them camping out on the sidewalk, I think its sad. Do you feel any empathy for them at all?
BNSF seeks 2500 new employees, if the Americas dont want them. These people have a lot of experience hopping trains.
i have empathy for the immigration workers who deal with this bullshit day after day trying their best to help the ones who really need asylum and filtering out the ones who use it as a fake excuse to try and gain entry
Oh okay so you feel empathy for Americans with job security who go home to their middle class families after putting in 8 hours, but not for people fleeing dangerous and desperately poor circumstances. Got it!
As an upper middle class bleeding heart American leftist, I feel that we should take in as many refugees and asylum seekers as possible without screening them, and put them in places where I don’t visit often
I'd like to suggest that we reserve the term "immigrant" for those who plan to enter the US legally and become Americans. The basic intent behind allowing immigration in the first place. In most other nations a person who walks across the border illegally is not called an immigrant, they are called an alien. I realize it's a matter of semantics to some, but it does a disservice to legal, law-abiding immigrants to allow the ones who skip the line and sneak in to use the same noble title. I admit Illegal Alien is a tad harsh, but that's what they are. Using terms like "undocumented immigrant" is like calling a crack dealer an "undocumented pharmacist" or calling a bank robber an "undocumented procurement specialist".
