Exactly Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi had the largest opening box office weekends ever, only surpassed by Avengers: Infinity War just this past week. Star Wars: The Force Awakens remains the all-time top box office grossing movie at 937,000,000 well ahead of second place Black Panther
I tend to view the originals, the prequels, and the Disney movies on different levels. I like the original three the best. And I always watch restorations of the real originals as they were before Lucas tampered and ruined them. I don't like the prequels as much, and I watch the Q2 fan-edits when I watch them, but I still like them. I don't feel the same degree of reverence towards the Disney movies that I feel towards the six made by George Lucas, but I still like the Disney movies a lot, and I still go to see them.
How the fuck did Black Panther make so much money? I dont get it. He is a superhero whose superpower is cat claws??? Hip Hop is huge, so maybe a lot of people expected one big hip hop video with that movie But still, I am dumbfounded how it makes more than movies like The Last Jedi , or Captain America 3 when no one had really heard of the character until CA3
No, they are shite He means, and I would like too, for someone to totally remake the prequels Condensed into one movie, you dont need three
There are several fan-edits that do just that, although I don't know enough about them to give recommendations. In my view the Q2 fan-edits (still three separate movies) are just about perfect.
Just because something is ushered in with thunderous applause doesn't mean it's actually good. Hitler & his regime were greeted with sounds of joy & merriment but we all know how that turned out. Yes I just compared Disney Star Wars to Nazi Germany......you don't like it sue me
I feel the same way (except I'm not busy with the fan edits or the untampered originals. The latter seems worthwile to me, just not tried to get them yet). Especially the prequel trilogy gets too much shit imo. There's a lot to enjoy. The Disney ones have been pretty bearable too so far. Not saying there's plenty to criticize on for the critical fan. But its not so bad as BeatinFeet69 puts it.
Phantom Menace is an atrocious train wreck of a film, imo. I think The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi are leagues ahead of the prequels. Frankly, I think Disney is giving Star Wars its good name back. Plus, knowing what is definitively canon is pretty helpful.
I didnt mind Pacific Rim, but Pacific Rim 2 was unwatchable, got half way through and just could NOT continue I hadnt felt that way since Attack of the Clones Anyone that says of AOTC especially "Theres a lot to enjoy" Must have suffered a head injury
For the Avatar Sequels, I want to see then bulldoze the tree and build a couple of shopping malls. you know, Make Pandora great again Be interesting to see how those sequels go in this day and age with 20 marvel movies and Star Wars back in full swing
Oh really? So a movie where the entire plot was determined by a conversation that went something like this "Hey Mr. Abrams what can we do to to bring Star Wars to a newer younger audience?" "Uhh dunno what'dya think?" " I think we should take the concept for the first one & revamp it. More action, & everything everyone loved about it, well let's just make that bigger!" "Whew! Great idea was worried I'd have to actually try writing something for once. Yeah great, it'll play on the old fans nostalgia enough that they probably won't realize how much of a ripoff it is & the younger gen will be soo busy enjoying the bright flashing lights, massive explosions, & over the top amounts of lens flare they'll be completely pacified as well." -----That's what passes as a "GOOD" film these days????!!!! As to the film this thread pertains to.... I could lay out the entire argument for it's complete & utter shitiness but I'll use the most obvious & simple issue with the film alone. Surely it'll be enough. Just two words.......Luke Skywalker......
But Kylo Ren stopped a laser blast with just the force and Rey flew the Millenium falcon through a shipwrecked Star Destroyer
Yes really. You put it as if the franchise id dead just because you strongly dislike where its going. Should tell you enough. Don't get me wrong: I see and acknowledge where you're coming from. But the fact that many other people here, who aren't mindless fanboys either and have plenty to criticize on, makes clear it is just an opinion. Its certainly is not dead. Plenty of old school fans of the original trilogy are eagerly awaiting the new movies (and games), and enjoying the new releases. Do they dig everything in it, or even the general direction the makers went? Rarely, which is only natural.
A lot of fans in this thread dislike everything involving Ren (i can relate), yet not the entire movie. I don't see what's to dislike about Rey encountering and hijacking the Millennium Falcon and that exciting scene where she shook off those First order fighters.
Yeah, i also find Episode 1 to be the worst. But Jar Jar doesn't ruin everything for me. Atack of the clones was very satisfying imo. Still is (i rewatched recently) Coruscant and the other worlds we knew of but didn't saw much of in earlier movies were very well depicted. The villains didn't suck at all. The story of Jango/Boba Fett is great. The new planets like Kamino and that one where the separatists droid army gets build.. all fun and intriguing
If the many terrible things in the Prequels weren't enough for me to hate it, the God awful depiction of Anakin Skywalker, the most legendary Jedi of all time, certainly was. That guy was supposed to be Anakin? He was a total whiny, pompous brat. Who would respect him, really? I certainly wouldn't. I would be secretly kind of happy that he was turned into a machine...kind of had it coming. It's like Lord of the Rings if Gandalf were played by AC Slater. It's exactly like that, for me. I don't know how you get past that, especially when it could be SO good.
