They elected a raging narcissist who cares more about his brand than anything else including the fate of humanity (as seen in his 'nuclear war' threat exchange with Kim J). Is it really surprising that he doesn't give a shit about kids being shot?
Has he not passed gun control restrictions that did not exist before? One could argue that Trump must care more for kids than anything Obama did to restrict guns.
On February 28, 2017, he signed a measure nixing a regulation aimed at keeping guns out of the hands of some severely mentally ill people. That was a step in the wrong direction. He made promises for gun control after Parkland, but backed away after NRA pressure. Conceding to N.R.A., Trump Abandons Brief Gun Control Promise He has agreed that Federal agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, will partner with States and localities to support a public awareness campaign modeled on “See Something, Say Something” to encourage awareness and reporting of suspicious activity--certainly a positive step but minimal. Trump has called for a focus on mental health but his budget slashed the major source of public funds for mental health treatment, the Medicaid program. Trump’s Budget Cuts Deeply Into Medicaid and Anti-Poverty Efforts The omnibus spending bill put together by Congress, including provisions to gain Democrat support, included the Fix NICS Act, more money for school safety, and a clarification on federal research--no gun control restrictions. Trump signed it but said he was unhappy with it., threatened to veto it, and said he would “never sign another bill like this again”, although not because of the school provisions. Phony Mike Pence credited Trump for the act, which he said provided nearly $2 billion more in help to local governments to ensure safety at our schools and the safety of our students". But in reality $1.1 billion of that $1.7 billion was for a school grants program that is only tenuously connected to school safety. So no, I don't think on that basis that anyone (honest) could argue that Trump must care more for kids than Obama did. (BTW. Obama's strenuous efforts at gun control were blocked at every turn by Congressmen in the hip pocket of the NRA).
In the days leading up to the cancellation, Trump used the phrase "We'll see what happens." His use of that phrase has often preceeded various bad events, such as the firing of one of his staff.
The only piece of gun-related legislation that he has actually passed allows mentally ill people easier access to guns. Trump signs bill revoking Obama-era gun checks for mental illness And the only way you could argue that he has done more than Obama is if you just make shit up or are stupid enough to actually think that Trump means what he says. *Oh I see that Okiefreak beat me to it.
Bump stops and raising the age of gun ownership? And weren't these same congressmen in the same hip pocket of the same NRA? Yet still these are some restrictive measures albeit not huge. But not accomplished prior. Aside from gun measures, has he not also supported funding for school security measures? Arming teachers, having resource officers, metal detectors? And let's see what administration did any of this before to show the concern for school children? Tell me where this is made up?
Bump stocks haven't been federally banned yet. Same with raising the age. Trump proposed changes but nothing has been done as yet. The STOP School Violence Act was introduced by Rep. John Rutherford (R-Fla.) It provided $50 million. Obama called for more school resource officers using COPS Hiring Grants in addition to providing "$150 million to school districts and law enforcement agencies to hire school resource officers, school psychologists, social workers, and counselors." He asked congress for $30 million in grants for school emergency plans and $15 million for project AWARE aimed at training teachers to identify and respond to mental illness in students, and another $40 million of AWARE money for school interaction with police and mental health providers. He asked for $25 million for mental health trauma resolution in schools and $50 million for school psychologists. Congress ignored him, but that's Congress not Obama.
Maybe during the Nixon Administration. Who else would order the DOJ to investigate and disclose an informant branded a "spy", and send his Chief of Staff and lawyer along to the briefings?
Nixon fired the investigator via Bork. Trump's behavior gives the impression that he is trying to collude with the DOJ and cut a deal for himself under the table.
Not in my understanding. Congress has never demanded to know the sources of confidential intelligence information as that makes it harder for them to get information. Why would you give the FBI information when you know your name could be revealed to your enemies?
Trump is known for his use of counter-suits and counter-scandals as leverage to get what he wants for himself. He has a long history of this in his real estate businesses which includes his law suits against his creditors and Palm Beach. Another tactic is his use of smear campaigns to discredit and cripple the other side. An example is his hiding behind the fake name 'John Barron' when he was going through personal problems, such as the divorce of his first wife, to smear others in an attempt to make himself look better in the eyes of the celebrity media. His tactics have spilled into DC politics and are now undermining the separation of the DOJ and Oval Office and are attempting to cripple the DOJ.
He is just saying this shit because he's supposed to be a Republican now. Arming teachers, turning schools into prisons, spending money on 'resource officers' after you've slashed education budgets-- all painfully stupid and typically right-wing ideas. The only logical solution here is to limit access to guns.
Are you fucking kidding, no one in the white house is familiar with Proofreading? Score Card: Grammatical errors: 5
He brags about his nuclear arsenal and then taunts him over having released the 'hostages', trying to turn it into a win. Wow.
