I had a good friend back east who loved Indian food. I could never find anything on the menu that appealed to me. One of those situations where I'd eat enough to not appear rude, and then pick up a hot dog on my way home or something.

The best Indian food i've had is at a restauraunt here owned by a Pakistani couple lol. There's some overlap with the Punjabi region of India and bordering Pakistan, so they serve Punjabi cuisine which is so damn good. Its mostly vegetarian. And its in this tiny, modest place and the food is so hearty and sprinkled with little bits of love...it always feels like i'm eating Sunday dinner with their family when I eat there

I think oftentimes food cooked by indigenous people for themselves tastes good to their palate, but not good to us. A lot of such food is modified to suit our Western tastes. For example Indian curries here in the UK are often thicker and creamier and have more sugar than authentic Indian cuisine. I know because I've had food cooked on several occasions by Indian people I have known.
