Ex-Roger Stone aide refuses to testify before grand jury in Mueller probe

Ex-Roger Stone aide refuses to testify before grand jury in Mueller probe

    excerpt:

"Onetime Roger Stone aide Andrew Miller chose not to show up before the special counsel grand jury Friday so that he would be held in contempt of court and appeal to a higher court, his lawyer told reporters. The grand jury is connected to special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian election meddling and any ties to Trump associates.

Stone, a longtime associate of President Trump's, met with a Russian offering dirt on Hillary Clinton in 2016. The lawyer for Miller, Paul Kamenar, said Miller deliberately didn't show up in court before the grand jury Friday so he would be held in contempt of court, and could appeal to a higher authority. Kamenar says Judge Beryl Howell has stayed her contempt order until Monday, so that Miller can appeal to the D.C. Circuit Court."

    Omarose Onee Manigault-Newman

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Former White House staffer Omarosa Manigault Newman claims in a new book that there are tapes of President Donald Trump
using racial slurs and that she saw him behaving "like a dog off the leash" at numerous events he attended without his wife, first lady Melania Trump.

In Unhinged, the Apprentice-contestant-turned-Trump-staffer claims multiple sources told her that Trump was recorded repeatedly using the “N-word” in outtake footage from the NBC reality show, according to a report by The Guardian, which obtained an advance copy of the book. The New York Times also confirmed that Manigault Newman made the allegation about the president in her memoir, which comes out on Aug. 14.

What is the Einstein visa? And how did Melania Trump get one?
    By Joel Gunter BBC News
    2 March 2018

How did Melania Trump get an 'Einstein visa'?

    excerpt:

"But where does that leave Mrs Trump? She does not appear at the time to have excelled in a niche area of modelling, nor won awards or had her work written about in significant publications.

Her lawyer has declined to publish details of her application, so we can't know what she submitted as evidence. But she may have been boosted by high-profile testimonial letters, said Nita Upadhye, a US immigration specialist at NNU Immigration Law.

Testimonials form part of the application, and the more high-profile the reference the more weight it carries. If Mrs Trump, already dating Mr Trump at the time she applied, secured letters from luminaries in fashion, that would be significant, Ms Upadhye said.

"If you're in the acting world, and Quentin Tarantino or Steven Spielberg writes a letter saying you're the next best thing, that can be very persuasive," she said.

"It's about getting testimonials from someone who is extraordinary in their own right and has some name recognition, but who can also attest to specific achievements of the applicant. And I'm sure she probably had some pretty significant letters, maybe from Donald Trump.""

Trump, his in-laws and chain migration
First Lady Melania Trump's Slovenian-born parents became US citizens through a process the president dismisses as 'chain migration'.

Turkey is a member of NATO and is (was?) a U.S. ally.

Countries around the world need a group similar to NATO but one that protects its members from Trump.

Why Trump is attacking Turkey with sanctions and tariffs
    - President Donald Trump's latest broadside against Turkey comes amid conflicts over defense policy and the detention of American pastor Andrew Brunson.
    - The Turkish lira was also reeling as Trump doubled tariffs on imports of Turkish steel and aluminum.
    - Members of Congress and the Trump administration have objected to Turkey's plan to use a Russian missile defense system.

When Trump first took office one of the first executive orders he issued was to fire over 40 of the country's top federal prosecutors. Many of them had expertise in federal law which covered the areas of financial crimes, money laundering, and crimes concerning government contacts with enemy nations. The federal prosecutors were just the men and women who would be needed to investigate Trump and his co-conspirators. Another prosecutor who lost his employment during the same period of time was Elliot Spitzer of New York who was that state's top financial crimes prosecutor. He would have been one to investigate Trump's financial crimes which involved New York international banks. Spitzer was brought down after he used a prostitution service. Mueller should know if that same "High and Up-Scale" prostitution service is the same one operated by The Manhattan Madam who is a friend of Roger Stone who is a friend of Trump. We all know now that Trump himself has a very discriminating taste for expensive prostitutes. If Elliot Spitzer could be forced to quit over the payment of money for sex, shouldn't Trump quit after he is found to have paid two women over $100,000 each for the same kind of sex? Do we need that sort of man to run the world's most powerful country?

Trump has promised to bring in foreign motorcycle manufacturers to the U.S. as punishment to the American Harley-Davidson for what Trump perceives as H-D's defiance of his tactic to hurt foreigners and promote American businesses.

Trump is punishing American businesses and helping foreigners in a perceived effort to help Americans and punish foreigners.

Up next: Trump says he will accept and publish stolen information about Harley-Davidson from foreign competitors and governments to further cripple H-D in retaliation for (in his mind) obstructing his personal ego battles.

The pathological condition of Trump's mind should be evident to most by now.

One of his pathologies is his obsession with initiating winner-loser personal ego battles and trying to 'win' each one to to fill a never-ending self-worth void inside of him. It explains why he mentions the words 'winners' and 'losers' so frequently.

An example is his battle against claims about his small hands by an editor of Vanity Fair magazine to which Trump has been responding since the 1990's. Another is a legal battle against a construction group he hired that he waged from 1980 to 1995. A more recent example is his battle with Harley-Davidson.

Trump will try anything to fill his personal void. It can be criminal, such as accepting stolen information, a multi-decade insult campaign (sometimes hiding behind fake names such as John Barron), threats, lawsuits, coverups such as funneling personal money through a Delaware LLC, firing of associates, or any other of a variety of avenues. It's always a personal ego battle in his mind that he is trying to 'win' which is even more important to him than his money, considering how much he needlessly spent on some of his battles.

Anyone who engages so profusely in such tactics is in a precarious position when holding public office, a fact that Trump doesn't seem to appreciate due to his lack of experience in elected public office. Now as an elected official, his response to this fact is to initiate more ego battles and further engage in the same types of tactics he has used for all his previous ego battles. This time he is projecting it onto the government and the international community. His ego battles with Mueller and his trade wars are examples.

Let's face it--he's too dumb to know HOW to act rationally, because inside-----he's a little teeny man beset with the knowledge that he's a little teeny man. People that are secure in themselves don't take every criticism directed at them so deadly serious. He really is a despicable person with no redeeming value whatsoever, IMO.

The Trump administration hasn't adequately explained why it has singled out Turkey and has doubled its steel and aluminum tariffs on it, other than claiming general national security interests that are not peculiar to Turkey.

Trump's approach has been to rattle the system without a real plan and, if it breaks, let someone else try to fix it (an example being his telling the ACLU and other groups to unite migrant children and parents who were separated due to the mess he created with his pretentious actions).

Trump’s National Security Claim for Tariffs Sets Off Crisis at W.T.O.
By Ana Swanson and Jack Ewing
    Aug. 12, 2018

Trump’s National Security Claim for Tariffs Sets Off Crisis at W.T.O.

    excerpts:

"Any decision could prove to be the undoing of the World Trade Organization, which the United States helped establish in 1995 as a forum to settle trade disputes and to set rules that keep commerce flowing freely around the globe. A ruling against the Trump administration could prompt the United States to leave the W.T.O. entirely. But siding with the United States’ claim of national security could also significantly diminish the organization’s authority and prompt other countries to begin citing their own national security interests to ignore inconvenient rules on topics like intellectual property, environmental standards or farm subsidies.

“If the United States has rewritten the rules of the W.T.O. system to say you can do anything you want if it’s in your national security interests, be prepared for every country in the world to come up with a new definition of what is its critical national security interest,” said Rufus Yerxa, the president of the National Foreign Trade Council and a former deputy director general of the World Trade Organization.

On Friday, the administration once again claimed national security when Mr. Trump decided to double the rate of tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Turkey. In a statement, Wilbur Ross, the secretary of commerce, said that metal exports to the United States had not declined “to levels sufficient to remove the threat to national security” and that raising tariffs on Turkey would reduce that threat.

“When we ask what’s their plan, their answer is they don’t know,” said Pascal Lamy, president emeritus of the research organization the Jacques Delors Institute and director general of the World Trade Organization from 2005 to 2013. Mr. Lamy said that Mr. Trump’s intention was to “shake the system, and then we’ll see.” That, he said, was “the only explanation they gave.”"

Trump has demonstrated he could be very friendly to the oil and gas industry. He has allowed them to drill where they wish and to engage in Fracking. The Fracking practice has been used on private land wells in the past; but, now is being used on public lands thanks to Trump & buddies. In this past year, it has been used in pristine wilderness areas in Utah, Colorado, and Alaska. This morning's news has reports of the strongest earthquake to hit the region 343 miles north east of Fairbanks, Alaska. The quake was only 6 miles below the surface and is typical of the Fracking caused earth quakes after the pumping of the dangerous fluid into the depths of the earth. The quakes in Alaska are starting to resemble the quakes in Oklahoma and Kansas where Fracking is common. This is environmental damage caused by industry for the sake of profit. Public lands belong to all of us, not just to Trump and his greedy friends.
