Sean Hannity is making remarks like the Nixon supporters who were claiming that the Watergate break-in was just a flimsy little third-rate burglary that didn't matter.

For Hannity, Trump, and the crowd at the WV rally, it's back to the old chants of 'lock her up' and 'build that wall'.

As Trump Faces a Wild News Cycle, Fox News Is Running Out of Options (Column)

"Fox News has long been Trump’s safe harbor, as both subject and, notably, as viewer; it’s a place where on-camera personalities both tend to treat him with endless indulgence and often seem to be speaking directly to him. The message, more than ever, is that the Trumpian concept of a “witch hunt” is real, and that not merely are Cohen’s and Manafort’s misdeeds unrelated to the Russia saga, but that they barely count at all. That Hannity went so far as to concede, on-air, that Cohen and Manafort had done things wrong (even as he said they shouldn’t face real consequences for them) felt startling — the host rarely cedes ground — but he went on to cite various Democrats who ought to have been prosecuted for their misdeeds. Mark Levin, a Hannity guest, argued that the charges against Cohen weren’t just insignificant but meaningless: “You know what took place in the Southern District of New York? Nothing that matters. Zip-o. There was no violation of federal campaign laws.”"

Horrible idea. I can see this backfiring in any number of ways. What if they don't find anything? What if they air a tape that has been doctored? Tactics like this will only make the MAGA crowd dig in deeper.

Charles Kushner used mafia-style tactics that seem to run in the Trump family.

Chris Christie prosecuted Charles Kushner, which may explain why Christie never received a major position in Trump's administration but Kushner's son, Jared, did.

In spite of all his police and military flag waving, when it comes to his own interests, Trump sides with the perpetrators, not law enforcement.

    Charles Kushner

    Charles Kushner - Wikipedia

    excerpt:

    "Criminal conviction

In the summer of 2004, Kushner was fined $508,900 by the Federal Election Commission for contributing to Democratic political campaigns in the names of his partnerships when he lacked authorization to do so. [11] In 2005, following an investigation by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of New Jersey, [12] U.S. Attorney Chris Christie negotiated a plea agreement with him, under which he pleaded guilty to 18 counts of illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion, and witness tampering. [13] The witness-tampering charge arose from Kushner's act of retaliation against William Schulder, his sister Esther's husband, who was cooperating with federal investigators; Kushner hired a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law, arranged to record an encounter between the two, and had the tape sent to his sister. [14][15][16][13] He was sentenced to two years in prison,[14] and served 14 months at Federal Prison Camp, Montgomery in Alabama [17][18] before being sent to a halfway house in Newark, New Jersey, to complete his sentence. [17][18][19] He was released from prison on August 25, 2006.[20]

As a result of his convictions, Kushner was disbarred, prohibited from practicing law in New Jersey, [21] New York, [22] and Pennsylvania. [23] "

I think an elaboration on one of these levels would be both amusing and informative.

    Well since you asked

Most importantly, doesnt he have, ya know, actual work to do?
And what sort of shenanigans is Pence getting into while Trump is away at these rallies?
Is anyone actually running this country?

I wont bother to touch on the people who voluntarily take time out of their day to attend an event planned specifically for Trump to stroke his precious ego, we can all draw our own conclusions there

The following is a quote of a blogger on the Variety website.

"after this weeks events so far, i firmly will vote for trump and his kids for life. or how they tell me to vote. its clean now more than ever that the deepstate and the globalists and the maoist/stalinist left are losing it and getting desperate. Barron Trump 2044! i dont care about the trumps so much as I know the left and the deepstate/globalists hate them so in order to cause pain to those who subvert our nation and its sovereignty i must vote for trump forever because its the only thing the deepstate is afraid of."

The people at the rally in WV sounded muted, and the event represented the heart of his base. Trump complained on Air Force One on the return trip that he saw empty seats and the crowd didn't sound as enthused as his previous rallies.

Trump said at the rally that he brought back the steel producing industry to the U.S. through his tariffs, a delusional claim.

There were the usual 'lock her up' and 'build that wall' chants that have been heard since he entered the race in the summer of 2015. Carnival barking is stale in itself and nauseating after three years.

At Trump rallies, the stupid people repeat over and over again that they are so right, and their leader is a stable genius!

In theory, but trump doesn't give a damn about the people who voted against him.

Huffington Post' headlines today: TRUMP HAS LOST HIS PECKER!

David Pecker got a subpoena and accepted immunity to testify against Trump! And the walls come tumbling down!

This morning Trump told the FOX News reporter that the hush money paid to the women who he had sex with had not come from the Trump Campaign, but rather from him. The New York Attorney's office is investigating the Trump Foundation and has found that it had reimbursed Cohen for paying the women and then some. When taking office, Trump had issued public statements indicating he had divested himself from the business empire and that his two sons were now running it, including the foundation. All this indicates he is admitting guilt in several ways. (1) He could be admitting guilt in the New York case. (2) He could be admitting guilt in the federal campaign finance case. (3) He obviously admitted to paying for sex. (4) He admitted he is still involved in the business he had divested himself from, upon taking office. MSNBC says: The tape taken from Cohen's office clearly has Trump's voice and that of a third person, while he discussed payments to the women with Cohen. In that tape, you can hear Cohen and Trump mention the name of a man who has now turned out to be running the foundation's accounts as financial officer maybe? In that tape you can hear mention of Mister Pecker who has now been granted immunity to testify in the New York case about his relationship with Trump. All this has developed after Trump denied knowing about the payments and had told the reporter to go and ask Michael Cohen. Well, the government lawyers have now asked Michael Cohen. Michael Avenatti has been paying close attention to all this and has notified Trump that he want to depose him under oath!

Yes. Let’s have some unelected administrators of our liberal indoctrination centers decide who can and cannot run for office. That’ll fly. The people do the vetting, for better or worse.

Agreed, it gives me Geraldo Rivera flashbacks. If you're going to look in Al Capone's prohibition vaults, find the goods first, THEN bring the cameras and news crews. Weird how that never occurred to him. And he admitted he was basically working from a rumor.

    Still, advertisers did very well!

Exactly. Can you imagine all the interesting ways a mental exam can be skewed (I have a lot of personal experience with this). What's really frightening is that the same vetting process suggested could easily land us at the mercy of a REAL Nazi/Dictator/Mob Boss.

Perhaps voting as we do in the US allows the system some level of random flexibility that wouldn't exist if we elected by committee (which is what the vetting process would essentially be). At some point we all have to consider we may not be smarter than the founders of the US constitution and government. You could spend a lifetime studying all the legal nuances their system created.

What's funny is how many people seem to think this system will bend readily to feelings-based issues. Sure, it happens on a local level and even the state level in a few cases. Most of the nation is more pragmatic and practical than that. Of the ones who actually give a flying crap about it.

Liberal indoctrination centers. Interesting. Where are those? Yes--true enough as it is--"the people do the vetting, for better or worse." Too easy--I'll let some one else take it.

George: "whats funny is how people seem to think this system will bend readily to feelings based issues." I seem to think 60 million people did such and continue to do so. Has to be feelings--can't be because of real worth can it? Evidently, 60 million people FEEL that what's turning out more and more every day to be a criminal enterprise, is excellent and FEELS right.
It doesn't matter at this point what Trump does. He can stand on an airplane and deny he knew anything about a payment--EVEN WHEN THERE IS A TAPE OF HIM DISCUSSING THAT VERY PAYMENT.! (Had to holler that one.) Someone that lies as much as he does, has a history as he does---well--he doesn't FEEL quite right to me.
