Well, my neighbor happened to share this with me, because we talk all the time, and it certainly weighed heavy on his heart. So if asked, I'm entitled to an opinion, whether you like it or not. I'm Stubborn? Goddamn right I am, and because I am stubborn, my daughter will NEVER become any of those things.

ok and my opinion is once asked, stay out of it....,offer no opinion

maybe you noticed I like to play devils advocate and I always stick up for people who cant have a say on their own...…..like kids for example...… if this is the biggest beef with buddies daughter he should thank his stars....people are going through actual tramatic problems with their children.....a name change is kind of the chump change of drama

If she had a good reason I would consider allowing her to change her name, but would probably encourage her to wait until she was an adult.

But it sounds as though she is being petty and dramatic.

Yes, that's pretty much it, petty and dramatic. I agree that once they move out and are completely on thier own, then yes, they can do whatever.

Google search would probably help you out with that one.

Huh. I have a 14yo daughter and 11yo son. They are never anything like the terrors that my friends and the general public complain about preteens and teens. And my parents always said that my sister and I were the most non-teenager teenagers ever. I just remember getting into an argument with my mom about something at the mall (I was right; it was objective; regarding a map that she insisted on holding upside down). Other than that, nothing.

I hope the good luck continues!
