I was on a festival in the park last night and it was 10C! I had a wooly jogging sweater thingie so only my hands became cold in a bothering way in the end but now next day I'm sniffing a little... Thought I was prepared but guess I got a little too cold in the end after all.. We got spoiled here this summer! Now i have to get adjusted again to chilly evenings and cold nights. But an 'indian summer' is expected here too happily

waking and baking was awhile ago...already cut a couple acres of grass and now heading out to cut and chop a few thousand pounds of wood......it was also 10 degrees in Winnipeg overnight

this is the stalk of the outdoor grow at buddies....my own are much thinner as they are in pots...this is I the ground....this will be way bigger in a month...a bic is 3.25 inches

what i'm saying is...this is a fatass stalk for such a late planting...buddy knows his shit

we are getting chickens. i have to decide where to put the coop first (i have it narrowed down to 3-4 spots for different reasons) and it will be delivered thursday. easier than finding time/ materials to build it myself.
    then we get some birds.
im researching quail now as well.

You know, chickens really are an excellent option for healthy eggs, not to mention an uninterrupted supply line. Good choice.

lack of humidity is one of my most favorite parts of living in colorado. when it gets humid its because it rained and then the sun came out. or if there is like, foggy weather. thats it. the air is so dry here that the rain evaporates before reaching the ground... A LOT of the time. yeah, the temperature creeps up into the 80's, 90's, 100's sometimes... but its a dry heat. its tolerable. "low 80's" the last few days feel like fall. be in the 70's here in a few days.

its been cooler in general lately. cool enough to actually do yard work. get stuff prepped for spring. i planted in some of the fall crops. im watching my squash plants with fingers crossed. everything is SO SLOW this year. i want to go ahead and level out some areas but to do so i need to have seed to put down right away. i do have some cover crop mix, maybe i will use that. but i still really struggle with my inclination to be conservative with seed. im going to plant arugula all around my yard edges though. ive got lots of seed for that now, and its yummy, and the bugs like it. painted mountain corn got planted late, but has already done much better than the popcorn and the sweet corn that i planted earlier in the season, so i hope those make it.
