All I know is San Francisco has a reputation about having an abundant amount of gays and Castro is the main area. It very well could be overstated though.

It's pretty famous. But West Hollywood is it's own city. Traditionally has a gay majority in politics and a gay mayor. And, yes, the rainbow crosswalk.

But, yes, on topic...I heard Florence is a cat. 2 now. That means it is substantially weaker than originally predicted, yes?

From what I saw a few days ago it was estimated to be Cat 3 when it hit land.

i don't know hurricane cats, but that seems like a pretty safe assumption. like i mentioned earlier in this thread, i've never heard of any weather event being anywhere near the severity that the weather media reported. basically at this point, if the news told me that i was about to experience an upper tier hurricane that absolutely required evacuation, i would prepare for an inch of rain with possibly a couple 20 mph wind gusts.

    And then there’s Provincetown, Massachusetts

Half the guys in the town could fly across Cape Cod bay without a plane

Storm surge approaching 3.0' near Wilmington, NC and already 5.5' in Beaufort. Next high tide spans 9a-3p. 9' surge in these areas or between puts water water close to 11-12' MSL ... plus waves.

If memory serves these idiots were told to evacuate now they need to be rescued...

NEW BERN. N.C. - Around 150 people in New Bern are waiting to be rescued as flood waters cover the city Friday morning.

Hurricane Florence's storm surge started flooding New Bern Thursday afternoon. As of 4 a.m. Friday morning, around 200 people had already been rescued.

Two FEMA swift water rescue teams are on the way to help.

"WE ARE COMING TO GET YOU. You may need to move up to the second story, or to your attic, but WE ARE COMING TO GET YOU," the tweet read.

    ^just read that same story

And the hurricane is going to stall for 24 hours, things are just getting started. They are fucked.

It's selfish to put first responders (er..whatever they are, the fema team) lives at risk by not evacuating

It hit upper level winds that are pushing it in an opposite direction so it's just stuck. It's lost it's forward momentum. It will shift southwest to more favorable conditions for it's movement.

Lol, it's like a disease or a living thing. Scary. I don't mean to lol as in laughter. America gets a lot of vicious weather. I find it enthralling and scary, but addictive.

    You think Florence is anything.

There is Typhoon ( real people call them Typhoons) Mangkhut, a category 5, maybe the biggest storm ever recorded headed for Hong Kong and Phillipines.

But there are no white people in danger, so it might not get its own thread
