West Virginia poverty gets worse under Trump economy, not better

    excerpts:

"Coal "is a potent message," but it overlooks the reality of West Virginia's economy, said Sean O'Leary, senior policy analyst of the West Virginia Center on Budget and Policy, a nonpartisan think tank. "The growth we've had is in low-wage industries. Folks who find jobs haven't found jobs that keep them out of poverty."

Jobs in low-wage industries have grown 14.5 percent since 2001 in West Virginia, compared with a decline of 2.8 percent in jobs that pay higher wages during the same time, according to the WVCBP's figures. The state has about 22,000 people employed in mining and logging, compared with 131,000 education and health care workers and 155,000 government workers, two of the biggest industries in the state, according to government data.

West Virginia's dismal trends point to an economic issue that's impacting states across the country: Workers at the bottom of the pay scale aren't benefiting from the growing economy. Their issues range from low pay to unstable and scanty work hours, which makes it difficult to earn a living wage. Almost one in four West Virginians is employed in a low-wage job, the WVCBP found.

The post-recession economy has favored Americans with college degrees, providing them with both growing incomes and professional opportunities. But many who lack that credential have been left out of the recovery, as evidenced in West Virginia. "

"West Virginia's poor residents will face another burden beginning in October, when work requirements for food stamps go into effect across the state. Martinez said she believes the measure, which requires able-bodied adults without dependents to work, volunteer or receive job training for at least 20 hours a week to receive food stamps, will push more into poverty and ramp up demand for her soup kitchen's services."

Now that Trump has declared to the press that he has saved the world from what would have been a nuclear war with North Korea if someone else had been elected, he can start on his new claim: He alone used his Space Force to save the world (and the U.S. coal industry) from the invading space aliens who would have taken away all the good jobs from Americans.

Kavanaugh openly said he thinks it is perfectly OK to torture people from other ethnic groups, regardless of what the Geneva Conventions says and regardless of what International Law says. His thinking was relayed to the International Criminal Court last week by John Bolton, another typical Republican scumbag.

Wasn't it Obama that told us N Korea was the biggest threat to America. For how many years did he claim that?

    You're welcome.

I never understood why the Republicans do so much credit claiming? Obama and Clinton were much better presidents. The Republicans have never offered anyone as good as Jimmy Carter. FDR saved us from unrestrained corporate greed and the Republicans have managed to screw our economy twice since then! I want the Sherman Anti Trust Laws back!

Cuz it's a Republican that acted on eliminating what a Democrat called the No 1 threat to America. You're welcome.

China has been a growing problem for years.

And the Dems were warned for years. As it continued to grow in scope.

Now it will be more costly to resolve. But at least it's no longer being talked about.

Trump signs spending bill to avoid government shutdown, despite frustrations over border wall

    excerpt:

"President Donald Trump on Friday signed a spending bill that will avert a government shutdown despite previously calling the measure "ridiculous" because it did not include funding for a wall along the southern border."

I need to ask you a question: Do you know if Trump's tax return audit is finished yet? It's been over a year and a half and I haven't heard a word from that big orange fat boy!

If I had the IRS taking that long on my audit, I'd be sweating it.

I'd imagine it is. I've been audited and it doesn't take years. It's probably with Hillary's 33,000 missing emails.

If the Dems get a majority, they plan on enacting a 100 year old law that allows the treasury to look at them. I have no problem if they enact that law. I personally could care less what his income tax returns look like. But the Dems have been hemmoraging over it since 2016. He has broken no laws by not showing us his tax returns. Just because he has broken tradition doesn't mean he has violated any laws. If you can educate us on a law that states otherwise I'd love to see it. You should be able to accomplish that within the next 100 pages of this thread.

If the treasury does decide to use that law in an attempt to publically disclose his returns, I'd expect that be argued in court. They are still, by law, private documents. Even for elected officials. He is not being charged with a tax crime.

While I'd be glad if Trump stepped down for various reasons. I doubt this would be one of them.

I don't need a 100 days. The Supreme Court of the United States already said we can have the tax returns in the Shapiro case (about providing evidence against your self) and it also gave us several cases where law enforcement can take the tax returns where there is probable cause or reasonable suspicion. The way I understand it at this point in time, Mueller has plenty of evidence to establish Trump got Russian money into his campaign, along with advertising help. There is evidence he got Russian money into real estate deals which sure look like a laundering deal. Trump's campaign is mixed up in the M. Butina case, which gives law enforcement probable cause. The Stormy Daniels and the McDougal cases give civil case lawyers like Avenatti power to depose Trump and get his taxes (might be subject to a court sealed file motion) and there is the Cohen cases, federal and state, where he has been named co-conspirator or master mind of an illegal activity, resulting in prosecutor's authority to confiscate any and all Trump records. Trump really should order that Persian Silk orange jump suit now, and plenty of petroleum jelly. He might get a bunk in Bernie Maddoff's cell, or in Manafort's cell. Oh yeah, I did forget Manafort. He's already spilled some beans in Mueller's office. There might be more probable cause there, concerning some money laundering by the Trump campaign...Huh? Whatcha think? Kicker-back...10-4! The certified trucker Stormountainman is standing by!

It did not release those returns. It allowed them to be used as evidence in a criminal proceeding. That same idea is available to the Dept of Treasury, with the same restrictions. Trump has not been charged in anything yet at this point. You're using the GYATIW method of convicting Trump.

I hope you can trust Muellers efforts and will accept his results as he concludes this then right? I'm pretty sure he knows the law better than anyone here does.

I will happily support his findings when he releases them.

LOL. Where did those bombs land?

JFK threatened to do the same. How'd that go? He eliminated the threat without launching a thing. Took balls to do it. You're welcome.

I have no idea what bombs you're talking about.
Obama considered a preemptive strike in 2016 after the North Korean launch of three ballistic missiles that impacted abut 1,000 ks from Japan.
But he rejected the idea as "unthinkable".
    Same with JFK.
    So I don't know what you're referencing.

Okie, November 6th is just 37 days away!
OK, sounds cool. I am a Democrat and Mueller is a Republican; however, I hope there is a little integrity left in the souls of the men in Washington. My attitude has been shaped by all the corruption. I hope you could understand my feelings.

Well he failed to make the proper impression on N Korea to change a thing.

You're a teacher. Surely you know of the Cuban missle crisis.

The question is what is Trump hiding in his tax returns?
    Nothing?
Then why not clear the air and make the Democrats look like idiots?

And Trump has "tamed" North Korea! Got cha.

I lived the Cuban Missile crisis, I prayed for days with my mother during that period, I don't have to read the history, although I have.
So what? I though we were talking about Obama starting a nuclear war with North Korea.
