I only looked it up because you kept mentioning it but it only took me a minute to get the actual story

He wrote his account when he was 19, about a time when he was 15 and touched a girl's boob, she swatted him away, he touched it again, then stopped, they became friends, he did some self reflection. Wrote an article a few years later in college about being raised in a certain sexual culture and coming to some realizations about sexual norms, gender, and sexual consent

Here is the actual article. It is a pretty self reflective piece for a 19 year old! Pretty refreshing for a guy so young, and back in the 90s no less, to show such an ability for self reflection, self criticism, and empathy for others. I dont actually know much about him politically but his 19 year old self seems ok.

The article he wrote isnt anything like how conservative propaganda sites have presented it, which is how I know what sort of source you heard about this.

While i'm here, can I just point out how (some) conservatives love to protect actual sexual predators while attempting to make sacrificial lambs out of men like Al Franken and Corey Booker, who never actually assaulted anyone

She felt more empowered because the case was getting more support and more women were willing to come forward. This is exactly what happened in the Cosby case.

There was no victim and no trauma, they became friends and she later expressed gratitude to him for not taking advantage of her while she was drunk

I'm not desperately anything. The story reported was that they had been communicating. He found it necessary to contact friends to vouch for him. The rest of us are waiting to hear the rest. I have no clue of her character or intent.

If I was gonna blow up someone, I'm not gonna contact them to talk about it. Why the hell give them notice it's coming? Unless I was going to threaten them. Maybe she just wanted to taunt him as you put it.

The "friend" is unnamed. The friend is not someone who he is pictured with. Nor adds her own story to back it up. We don't know anymore than what he's wanting us to hear. I can tell you for sure. They are often going to great lengths to normalize their behavior.

 

If it was blackmail, wouldn't Kavanaugh be all over it? Like you, the GOP and Kavanaugh are desperate to damage the credibility and character of the accusers. A blackmail plot would really help their case.

 

He has stated it's all an attempt to smear him. So he's already all over it. You or I at this point don't know what all he knows has happened up til now.

I'm not desperately for anything. If he cooks for lying I'm golden he's done for.

I look at all sides I can. As I have done here. Politics is a dirty dirty business. This is politics at work here. You simply go blind deaf and dumb in your faith in the left.

The left doesn't want another SCOTUS to be a conservative. As they said, they will stop it at all cost. I totally believe that.

The right doesn't want the left to gain anything. And they will stop at nothing.

So now we get to witness just what that means.

I don't trust either side has our best interest in mind. And I could give a crap if Kavenaugh is a judge or not.

 

There's a difference between a smear campaign and blackmail. Smear campaigns are par for the course and can also be rooted in truths... blackmail is a crime and tends to involve people keeping quiet or extorting favor, which absolutely hasn't happened. If it had been blackmail, they would be saying that's what it was.

And it's utterly laughable that you think you are being objective here. You have already lept to the conclusion that these women are lying based on absolutely nothing except 'politics is a dirty business', and invented multiple unlikely narratives to justify it. You are so far gone you don't even realize how ridiculous they sound.

As I said, these things work better as political ammunition when they are 100% true, and tend to backfire when they are lies. Obviously the revelations were timed for maximum political damage, but that doesn't mean they are false.

She could be telling the truth. It's being investigated as we speak. If Rameruz is found to lack credibility by the FBI. Just as as the NYT has already stated. Are you gonna support those findings? You won't be accusing both of these organizations of lying will you?

I just kind of want you to go on record now because in the next day or so, we should hear the results.

I think I watched all the news NBC aired yesterday. Although I may have missed maybe something, I never saw one mention of the events that has been found online.

And I have seen no other coverage of it anywhere else. But I can't say I have the time to pour through channels. I don't watch all day and all channels.

But I would have thought NBC would be making it a Scoop story they'd be crowing about.

 

I just read that Dr Ford’s ex bf said she did have experience teaching someone how to take a polygraph test etc. so she lied about that under oath, the guy is insinuating.

Ford wanted an investigation by the FBI. The internet may do it for her.

Edit: I did a quick search on this. Un-named source. From a right wing news source. I'm gonna pass on assuming it's legit. I would however expect Grassley to follow up. Seems like it would be relative information relevant to this investigation.

 

What I don’t like nor understand is how pieces of this investigation are leaking to the public? So it’s hard to decipher truth anymore, because it should all be private until the FBI concludes the investigation, imo.

 

Leaks happen because people want certain pieces of info to be out there - usually they think the leaks will help their "side."
