Its really not my own claim. American english without noticable accent. It doesn't count for all dutchies naturally. There are plenty who can't speak english at all, or those who do so with an accent (like those old dutch americans who immigrated in the first half of the 20th century). But a lot of english speaking dutch people that are educated and travelling do so without noticable accent. I focussed on it after hearing that claim and yes, it seems to be the case

If i am wrong here it would be merely because i apparently can't detect an accent. I don't give a flying fuck if dutch people speak english without accent or not.
I just heard several native english speaking people on different accounts make the assertion and when paying attention to it I thought it rings true in a lot of instances.

 

I wonder if there are physical differences in the parts of the head involved in speech.

For instance, I'm pretty sure that I'll never be able to roll the letter R like a Puerto Rican does.

 

The lady that grew up in this house moved to Germany for collage in 1979... She speaks english with a german accent.

Moi, I definitely sound foreign.

 

I am certainly not as fluent in speaking english as how i seemingly pop out english sentences with ease in writing. But I would not be suprised native english speakers would describe it as without accent.

Yup... Born here, grew up in my house (which is how I know her) and moved to Germany after going to college here. She married a guy from Germany and has lived there since... Her husband speaks english very well, by the way, but I imagine she speaks german most of the time.

 

I think it's difficult to judge one's own accent.
I just know I have one, I can't tell what it's like, or how thick.
But yes, I type better than I speak
