And Im the only one that lives here.. imagine that.. Actually its all part of the white squirrel supremacy plan to get Emperor Trump to say the word Squirrel 3 times to unlock the hypnotic mk-ultra brainwashing code, so white nationalist squirrels can take over the worlds..
This planet was a world of kings, czars, sultans, and empires before the US. Wars and famine were commonplace. Human rights were largley non-existant, and democracies had only existed in the ancient world. We had the first successful colonial revolution, and it inspired insurrection all over the globe. In much the same way that the timeline can be broken down as BC and AD, it can be broken down as Before US and After US. The ideals of this country--while borrowed fromthe minds of people like Plato, John Locke, Thomas Paine, and Patrick Henry--literally changed the world. Empires and monarchies fell; fudual Lords lost their power to the very serfs they previously ruled. Democracies and Republics formed in their wake. Healthy debate is just that, and I welcome it. I suppose all of these changes spreading the world over in the years following the American Revolution and the ratification of the Constitution could be coincidence. But the fact remains that the creation of this nation kicked off a falling set of dominoes that changed the way people, thought, goverened, and lived.
I don't agree with this understanding of history at all. As I indicated, there are many countries that have "freedom" not as a result of American ideals, et al. I mean the British parliamentary model is one of the if not the most commonly used democratic government on the planet (NOT the American-federal model). The American Revolution occurred because colonists believed they weren't being afforded the rights of a natural born Englishman.
Howard Zinn and I disagree. The revolution occurred because the Colonial elite didn't want to be reined in by the Crown who wanted to do things like curb slavery and prevent westward expansion. Our ideals are amazing, our practices sometimes abhorrent, and the reasons for putting these ideals into practice, disgusting and shameful. The American elite--let us not forget our Founding Fathers were the Trumps and Rockerfellers of their day--wanted to own slaves, and kill Indians and take their lands; they went to war with the greatest military superpower on Earth to keep these practices alive. None of this benefitted the average colonist.
I find much of the post interesting and for the parts I don't respond to, I either agree with or don't object to. Wars were/are still commonplace since the US independence. Quick tally estimate suggests the US has been involved in a war on average about every 20 years. ... The "coincidence" would be the enlightenment coincided in Europe during the 18th century. The era prompted alot of novel ideas about politics, ethics, ideas and philosophy.
It deserves its own thread at this point. There's much to nuance and correct in Noserider's posts. I can't believe she actually perceives it like that...!
^^^^^^ Literally cited historian Howard Zinn. This is not my "perception" but based on the writings and lectures of actual historians. But, project if you must
I'm just trying to keep up with a discussion that is all over the place. But, if you want to ask specifics, I'll be happy to clarify.
You just made my point: Hundreds of thousands of guns are stolen each year! That's why we need to ban all guns and start living in a safe and civil society.
Then just the criminals will have guns lol. There's so many simple memes about it, everybody sees them but nobody reads them and then if they do they go rah rah rah but no guns means no guns. But criminals won't care. That's why they're criminals. Do you think the the government is really going to eradicate every gun in America? They tried that is other countries and yet still, criminals have guns. Criminals still shoot people. Even when guns are banned, criminals shoot people with guns.
the right to posses anything does not equal a requirement for it to be on sale at wallmart. nor does the requirement to have a license to drive a car on a government provided street or highway, in any way infringe upon your right to own a car. because no law can ever be 100% effective, we should never attempt to have any? its the money thing that keeps everything backwards, as i've mentioned before. can't ban mass production of anything because that would infringe on the rights of little green pieces of paper? so little green pieces of paper have more rights then living persons do to remain alive? by what stretch is this even remotely moral or logical either one?
By not condemning hate as the leader of the free world, when it rears its ugly face, and by speaking and promoting hate rhetoric and racial division.
Nobody's going to do basic research for you when you called his response to Charlottesville brilliant.
So no direct quote exists of him promoting racial division then. The best/worst anyone is going to come up with is the fine people on both sides thing And that wonderful logic jump that everyone disagreeing with the statues going was a neo nazi
If one had any intellectual curiosity, it could be easily googled. There's a Wikipedia page on it. Racial views of Donald Trump - Wikipedia
