I love moussaka. Though I'm a veggie now, so I'd have to use Quorn with it instead. Maybe I'll try that out.
i don't really cook. i warm up some mac and cheese or a frozen pizza a few times a week, but that's about the extent of it. i don't think it's hard, i just think it's a form of torture. it's so time consuming and boring, and the fruits of your labor are gone 10 minutes after you're finished. if i'm spending a bunch of time working on something, i like to have a tangible result that i'm not going to immediately consume. i usually don't even get home from work until late enough that i'm ready to eat right then. i don't want to spend an entire hour after a long day of work just preparing to take care of my basic consumption needs. even if i do have time to cook, i don't really think about it until i'm ready to eat, so i would be half starved by the time i finished preparing an actual meal.
good cooks have no problem with time and torture lol...we are organized...one of the biggest mistakes people make is not being an organized cook....generally most of the dishes are already done at meal serving time.....and what are you spending so much time o that is done in 10 minutes? I make a mean pork wellington...passable turkey schnitzel....my bacon and egg breakfast is above average....plus baking...….recently tackled and prevailed over a tough chai meringue cookie with pecan and white chocolate
i tend to eat fast. no matter what i eat, it doesn't normally take me more than ten minutes to shove it down.
everything i eat at home i cook myself, and that is almost everything i eat. and i prefer doing so. i'll eat someone else's cooking if offered though. but if i eat out, its because i'm away from the house for some other reason, or i'm with people for some kind of occasion.
I always cook. Everyday except when i'm traveling. I've learned more so by watching my Mom cook. Then did my own thing with it. I don't recall ever being taught. Maybe on some things. And i don't read cookbooks.
Used To Love Takeaway......But Now I Hardly Touch It......Cook Nearly Every Meal.....Nothing Fancy Just Basic Stuff Like Steak...Bangers....Meat Patties etc......All With Veges Either Canned Or Frozen.....I'm Certainly Saving A Lot Of Money..... Cheers Glen.
I agree cooking for yourself gets annoying. If I'm alone I usually don't bother. I love to bake but my girlfriend isn't a sweet tooth gal so I can't bring myself to make a cheesecake and eat the whole thing myself lol I mean, I could, but I shouldn't. Cooking is something I like to do when I feel like it. With my ex it was kind of like, I had to cook or everyone would just starve because they're helpless. It's actually kind of perfect now because I have the things I cook really well, and my girlfriend can also cook and she has a totally different style and she makes different stuff. She does this salmon with a sesame honey glaze that's amazing.
Mmm, same. When traveling, I try to prepare my own food when reasonable. I find that when I eat out at restaurants for more than say, one meal per day, I tend to not to feel optimal.
Same if possible. Some places may have a little kitchen. I don't like to eat out. Though Spanish and Italian are doable on occasions. When traveling i pack enough cereal and granola bars to last me. I hate telling people this when i travel because they react to it like its something strange.
That's not weird. Travelling by itself is expensive, but spending the entire time eating out basically doubles the cost. I have some friends who frequently go to Disney because their family has a pass. They bring food with their luggage when they stay in the resort so they can prepare their own food while they're there and only splurge maybe once or twice on outside food. I personally couldn't eat just cereal and granola bars, but I'm a foodie lol the last time I took a road trip, my girlfriend and I brought a cooler with sandwiches and other prepared foods we made. It was much cheaper than stopping for fast food three times a day and it saved us time.
I generally find hotels with a small practice kitchen. Some might call them a suite? That way I can cook simple things. Doesn't matter if it is one night either. The way I look at it, if I go to a gig in a city, if I eat take out before the gig I'll feel like shit and sweat out oils as I drink, or if I eat after the gig I'll be driving home hungover sweating those oils. I'll just do some pasta, or salads. BLT sandwich or something.
The last hotel I stayed in didn't even have a microwave or a mini fridge. Just a TV lol I was a little disappointed.
Yeah I hate that. When I was in Denver I was in quality inn, no fridge. I says, well how am I meant to keep my medication chilled? I had to use a ice bag I bought at the races with fresh ice from the kitchen. It was totally whack. Quality my ass. First thing I did was get on my bed, wrote a bad review lol.
i don't know how anyone can claim to be self reliant, or even survive for very long, without having to cook or otherwise prepare for themselves some thing to eat.
