You should give it, uhm them, a try. Women in their 30s and 40s are individuals too and far from all are married. So its unlikely no one wants to just hook up. Also, how do you detect if a younger woman only want to hook up before you make a move? Or do you assume they're more prone to it by default because they're in their twenties? I know 'older' women can be into that just as much.

Wouldn't it depend on where you live to some extent , seems to me it does ?. We're more culturally diverse than ever and the prevailing value sets in a community greatly effect a persons outcomes.
Also,
got to remember even if you do find a woman in her 40's she's most likely carrying a freight train load of baggage which you as a male will be held responsible for even though you had absolutely nothing to do with it. That's why lots of guys are throwing in the towel , " too many snags, baby ", who's got time for it?
It's incredibly hard to undo the damage done by other guys !

Are you serious. You must be thinking about a specific kind of situation here. Why, according to you, are single 40 year old women so likely to carry too much baggage, too much to consider women around that age dating, relationship or hooking up material by default?

I am sorry if I upset you. If you have so much clot why are not mod and why are you using it against people. I know people don't like I am ok with it I don't like other people. If you feel bullied I am sorry I felt you were bullying me around. You treat people like how they want to be treated. I was not going through a good night last night so your comment hurt me most days I brush it off. If you know how it is to have bipolar its not easy.

 

That's part of it (I assume by default because they're in their twenties). I'm spoiled too. When I was raving (this was always in a club setting, not the outdoor festivals you may think of when I use that term), it was generally a given that it was just a hook up. In that way I had grown accustomed to casual sex.

But even today in my Sociology class we discussed women's expectations in dating/hooking up and for dating sites. The teacher joked (though it's likely true) that women are the ones who want a relationship on Tinder and that men are probably the ones who want "nothing serious". These are obviously gender stereotypes, but many of them remain true to some degree in America.

How do I detect if a younger woman only wants to hook up? The only real way I have to gauge how mature she is about relationships is sort of encoded in how she speaks, dresses, acts with friends, etc. For instance, there's a young woman in Sociology who I thought might be a fun girl. Today, she had a bunch of opinions about the topic of virginity; how the importance of it is stressed, and more so for women. I think she might be a virgin, which for my purposes is not a good thing. First of all, I don't really want to take anyone's virginity. It's not a notch I want on my bedpost, and I feel like this woman deserves something special which I don't have the intentions around.

What I mean by all that is I'm guessing that because she has energy on that topic, that maybe she's not very sexual. Those are the sorts of signals I'm looking at when determining if a younger woman is a viable partner.

I do think that the age group is likely to be more open to the idea that interactions do not need to develop into full on serious relationships.

I've actually noticed my metabolism slowing down the last month. I'm almost 39, so going on forty is a truth about me. I'm told that I don't look it, so that makes me feel good. But what does it look like anyway. I don't totally feel tired all the time or like my body is falling out from under me out of shape.

Really I don't mind my age, but I wish there weren't such a significant age gap between myself and the women I come into contact with.

And before anyone tries to tell me to get out to a bar, I should mention that I would do that, but I don't drink, and I can't afford it.

some younger women don't like older men. they actually distrust them and dislike them in general. that's perfectly fine too.

 

If it makes you feel better, currently younger girls are attracted to older men. It's the new thing. And probably here to stay for awhile.
Before I got remarried, I hung out out with a 27 year old when I was 49...and early 30's gal. And they were all pretty hot.
At 53, I look more like I am 45ish. Still have a full head of hair, and not bloated.
It's all good.
