  1. Well, in the beginning there was, like, blues. Then they made blues loud, and that was pretty cool. Then they made loud louder, and that was pretty cool. Now they just make loud. And they can't make it any louder. So I guess they're just going to make loud for loud's sake forever.

I see what you're saying too, but really it is a generalisation.
But I readily admit I'm not primarily looking for originality in new rock bands. They just have to do it right :-D Groove so hard my nipples are on my back afterwards, that kind of thing.

All the riff has to do is be a little creative or interesting.
I just don’t get down with screaming, but that’s personal taste.

Is it original? No, not really (it reeks of early Sabbath). Is it groovy? Check. Is it good? Uhm, subjective perhaps. But i freaking love it :grinning:

  6. I've never really been that into metal anyway, so I don't feel in a position to critique it.

Riffs these days are so predictable, too. And they'll like, base a whole song off a riff. You need melodies, guys.

I don't know. I feel this is all symptomatic of western society in general. It's all so sterile, and then you have these so-called professionals with an opinion on how everything should be done. And every asshat who has taken a music course deems himself a professional.

It's also hard to focus on what I'm saying when I'm listening to a show about a guy who cut off his penis and tried to cook it and eat it in oil.

Look, even if it counts for 90% of todays music I would still tell you you're generalizing. It's about that other 10% then

    Some photos of America.

All of the signs warning people to not take weed across the border are kind of hilarious.

It's not just originality.. I like to be able to pick out different instruments and hear the different things they're doing and how it all meshes together to sound amazing. Most modern music I hear.. All the instruments are doing the same thing.

Complexity is what I'm looking for. Subtle, brilliant complexity.

Oh yeah, I love that too. Different instruments coming together. Layers in sound, etc. It's why i listen to music.

Every single time I turn on the radio I hear a song that I have never heard before but that I like usually it is a brand new artist who I have never heard of

One thing that's different these days regarding music is that there is way more female artists showcasing upfront

I find music that is "new" to me because I wasn't alive when it was made : )

    I'm working backwards.

There is good music out there being made today.. But nothing I hear on the radio is it, and it's never rock music. I like plenty of other music genres though.

What do you think of that Witch track, rolling? I know you appreciate early Sabbath :) but do you dig this as well?

Edit: since @Tyrsonswood is a fellow Sabbath fanatic Im also curious how he likes it

I can see why you say it is similar to Black Sabbath I listen li listen to the entire track and I'm curious because I can only hear either one guitar and the drums or possibly the one guitar was a 6-string bass playing as lead guitar along with just the drums
4 minutes in they do the speed metal guitar and at that point you can clearly hear two guitars I don't know if it know if they just over dubbed but how many people are in that band? Do they even have a bass player? I was reminder to Buddy who's playing guitar along with his fake wife... Yes black stripes or white stripes something like that

I did not think of this band as metal but a very metal crowd came to see them live. I was thinking they are more like Pink Floyd sort of like deep stoner music. Everyone else had black band t-shirts with the typical unreadable text.

I'm stoned and moved on to a lot of Brant Bjork. Very chill and groovy:
