Maybe I'm being super sensitive but I'm pissed off too,just sent a text to a friend using the voice to text on my phone because with my Parkinson's Disease I find it hard to type on the screen..so anyway I sent the message and left out a ? and a comma,my friend replies that my English is deteriorating ..and that hurt my feelings so I have turned my phone off,wanted to ask him to have lunch at the pub tomorrow now I can't be bothered...

I say beware of the ways text messaging can skew the meaning of a discussion. Without additional delivery, like voice tone, word annunciation and tempo an innocent message can look like an insult, threat or total breakup. My wife and I realized this when I was working in the Middle East. Sometimes the web connections were so slow a paragraph would take 20 minutes to upload and voice communication was a distant memory.

She and I would go days into a rant only to realize when we did finally get to hear each other that it had all been a gross misunderstanding and that our personal stresses were affecting our perspectives, about each other.

This is how technology is fucking us. A little at a time.
