As a U.S. farmer with a million dollar piece of land , 'scuse me when I think the public is misdirected as
to what's important . You live in a society dominated and advantaged by market manipulators aided by
the Government , both state and federal . Occasionally , they will even initiate conditions that will put farmers
out of business . It can be cruel .

I guarantee you , every news report on tariffs and farming will manipulate your thinking . All are insufficient .
Even farmer testimonials will lie .
There are secrets to be kept .

If China will grow all its own food ... that's sensible . 'Tis peaceful .
We have some land to return to prairie .

Unless she’s moving to Portland, Eugene, or Ashland, she’s gonna find that much of this place is similar to any fly-over state

With the exception of bud being sold over the counter

Trump's Plan For A 4th Of July Celebration Starring Himself Is Reportedly In The Works | HuffPost

    excerpt:

"Trump first mentioned his plans in February in a tweet, bizarrely urging followers to “HOLD THE DATE” — as if that had never occurred before to vacationing Americans. He promised then an “address by your favorite President, me!”

He was mocked by critics who accused Trump of hijacking a national holiday as a way to honor himself."

I heard that because of security, crowds will probably be down.

If crowds are down, Trump will claim that aerial photos would have proven he had the biggest 4th of July gathering ever if they hadn't been faked.

$4.9 billion in checks were sent directly to producers for avoidable damage caused by Trump. If 'welfare' or 'entitlements' sounds undesirable, it can be called 'relief funds for Trump-induced disaster'.

Trump Administration, Making Farm Welfare Payments Great Again

    excerpt:

"Ag Secretary Perdue this week announced USDA’s launch of the second and supposedly final (don’t hold your breath) tranche of hush money payments to farmers and ranchers affected by Trump’s trade war. On August 27, USDA announced details on how it would dole out up to $12 billion in unbudgeted subsidies to buy the silence of farmers and ranchers affected by retaliatory tariffs. The first tranche of payments consisted of $4.7 billion in checks sent directly to producers of certain commodities (mostly to soybeans), $1.2 billion in government purchases of 31 different products (but mostly pork) for distribution to food banks and other nutrition programs, and $200 million for the not at all ironic Trade Promotion Program to, um, develop and expand foreign markets for U.S. agricultural goods."

The U.S. government is giving direct checks to farmers and buying Trump trade war-induced excess from them. (WInning!)

The Trump administration doesn't have a good plan on where the excess will go. It could be donated overseas, but Trump has shown that he doesn't like in-kind programs. He has already cut off various aid programs to other countries.

Trump’s farm aid solution: A strategy in search of a problem

    excerpt:

"Trump seems to be getting ready to bail out the agricultural industry again for the consequences of the latest round in the trade war.

Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue tweeted Friday that Trump directed his department to “work on a plan quickly” to assist farmers. “@POTUS loves his farmers and will not let them down!” Perdue tweeted.

The president suggested in another tweet that the government could buy $15 billion of agricultural goods from U.S. farmers.

That would be a major undertaking, though. In 2018, the U.S. exported $9.2 billion worth of farm goods to China, according to the Agriculture Department."

Trump Administration, Making Farm Welfare Payments Great Again

    excerpt:

"When they were eliminated in the 2014 farm bill, direct payments for covered commodities (corn, soybeans, wheat, cotton, and sorghum) receiving Market Facilitation Program were projected to cost $4.014 billion. Those commodities will now receive $8 billion in market facilitation payments, as well as a projected $3.9 billion in ARC/PLC programs, the ones that replaced direct payments in the first place.

It just goes to show that Congress would rather revert to Dust Bowl-era agriculture policies to pick winners and losers instead of creating a cost-effective, transparent safety net that would provide farm businesses with the stability and predictability they need to be successful on their own. And for the love of all things Christmas, stop saying tariffs are good for the American people. Tariffs are literally a tax on the American people."

once again, trump's policies hurt his supporters the most. Problem is they are too stupid to realize it.

I don't think anyone mentioned that Trump wants Barr to investigate Joe Biden.
This comment came after Rudy Giuliani asked Ukraine to investigate Biden. Rudy is Trump’s personal attorney.

Remember Barr refused to answer Sen. Kamala Harris when asked if Trump had told him to investigate anyone.
The White House and the DOJ are supposed to be separate.

a brief aside: why would they want to involve Ukraine and not just get a U.S. agency to do their "investigating"? Weird...

That's a good question. Remember Manafort had close business relations with Ukraine and got involved in a coup which started a civil war. There were Ukrainian payments made to (I think) Trump's inaugural committee? David Duke of KKK fame and open supporter of Trump studied in the Ukraine and got his non-accredited PHD from that nation. I'm now looking into Bannon connections to that place.

    In 2016 Joe Biden
Nothing ever came of the investigation and the Ukrainian energy company, Burisma, is alive and doing well.
The Bidens didn't do anything wrong morally or anything that was illegal.

Trump is trying to turn it into a scandal.

Orban invited Putin to Hungary shortly after Russia annexed Crimea.

Trump didn't even know that Russia annexed Crimea.

Another kindred spirit comes to Trump's White House

    excerpt:

"Orban has pursued ever closer ties with Russia, signing a number of economic agreements with Moscow and exchanging visits with Vladimir Putin on a regular basis. He defied his EU partners by inviting Putin to Budapest shortly after Russia annexed Crimea and has criticized the EU’s imposition of sanctions against Moscow.

Orban has sought to limit the ability of foreign non-governmental organizations to nurture Hungarian democracy, an independent media and civil society. And, especially dear to the heart of the American president, in 2015 Hungary built a barrier on its Serbian border to keep out the flood of immigrants from the Middle East and Afghanistan that was banging on Europe’s doors. All told, it is not hard to see why Orban would be welcome in Donald Trump’s White House."
