The government does produce by programs such as the Public Works Administration, Rural Electrification Administration, Civilian Conservation Corps, the interstate highway system, The Tennessee Valley Authority, and NASA to name a few, all of which contributed to the economy and created thousands of jobs.
The government financed the bailout of the auto industry which saved thousands more jobs in the manufacturing and supply sector.

    Here's a few more :

...and I got tired of looking them all up

  2. It's absurd, isn't it? You'd think of all the God-given liberties you're entitled to, what you do with your own mind would be top among them. We're not even free to alter the state of our own consciousnesses. It's like...no, my consciousness is definitely mine to do with as I please. You would think.

My father is a WWII vet and loves his veteran benefits.

  4. Yes, wartime vets usually do well, even the Vietnam era military. I was a peacetime vet, I am called category C at the VA, which is slim pickings. Peacetime vets didn't get the GI bill either, so I had to go with student loan debt instead.

I wonder if across the board government healthcare would also put people on tiers. And what the criteria could be for that.

  5. Yes, yes, I realize all of that, but it's still a matter of where the money comes from. The government doesn't really turn a "profit" or we wouldn't see huge deficits and rampant mismanagement. The US has some government entities that contradict the efforts of others. It's a madhouse, a madhouse..................

  6. By the way, does anyone actually buy the idea that Tulsi Gabbard is being run by the Russians? And will it hurt her chances at getting elected, true or not?

    No I don't buy it .
This latest load of BS is being peddled by supporters of darling Kamala because she dared attack Harris 's abysmal record as AG in California.
Since her attacks though a major cyber effort is underway in that state to bury, hide and/or cleanse public records of as much potentially damaging material as is humanly possible. They don't want this to happen again.

  8. Yea, the only reason Russians have any interest in Gabbard is her open disdain for US intervention in Syria. And she's been at that for a long time. So it's no wonder Russians, who support Assad, would be scanning for anything Gabbard says. Gabbard is a war veteran and doesn't seem to have nearly the kind of baggage Harris has (or Hillary for that matter).

What's interesting about Harris is her comments on using pot whilst jamming to Tupac and Snoop. Their first albums came out in 1991, after she became a California district attorney. Soooooo, was she toking while serving as a top cop for the state? At the same time she was a hawk with regard to marijuana convictions. But at least she admitted that she inhaled.

If the democrats cull the ranks of this kind of baggage handlers circus and get behind Biden, there's a chance they can defeat Trump and make certain that Pence never gets to the plate. But it seems like they enjoy sparring more than adopting a common goal for the party.

  9. What common goal has Biden espoused that we can all get behind?

  10. Besides beating Trump.

This is why my country is at least as worthy of the title 'land of the free' :-D

  12. I thought America's "Land of the Free" moniker was an insular thing. We're known by it in other countries, too?

We're no more free than a lot of countries. I honestly don't get why America is so revered.

  13. But, isn't that the most important aspect of this whole thing? After Trump is defeated all of our problems will be over. The skies will open up and flower petals will float down from the heavens.

If Trump wins a second term, we'll lose all of our important celebrities as they pack for Canada, Costa Rica and Trinidad.

  14. As George used to say, "it's our sluts". People come from around the world to get their hands on an American slut.

  15. I just chalk it all up to the fact that Americans really have no taste. We are unrefined, and in some people's minds that's what makes us charming. I wish it weren't our modus operandi, though. If Americans had any taste, everyone would be for Bernie. He's just classic.

It's because of succesful propaganda. American citizens (as well as lots of hopeful immigrants) swallowed it up, they wanted to believe and hey, the country was THE land with endless space and opportunities for a long time.

My father didn't receive benefits until 1988 as he was in the Merchant Marines. They had the highest causality rating percentage wise of any service including the Marines. He never got anything through the G.I. Bill.

Being a vet in peacetime is like any other job.

The money comes from the taxpayers, who then receive it back in the form of defense, government projects as mentioned above, disaster relief, educational loans, research, etc.

I guess you would have to read some history books.
