I didn't say I thought they shouldn't be able to, did I? But for the many people who don't like the concept of judging people based on race, I can see why they would have a problem with Trump, whether he is himself racist or not. Also, two of you have now quoted just that last line. I wouldn't have even bothered posting in this thread if VG's silly thing about racists donating to him doesn't make him racist, because vegans donating doesn't make him vegan.. As if the views of your supporters says nothing about you. And yeah, people can freely say their racist opinions if they like, but I find it a bit unhappy that the president seems to condone it. It's just not the world I want to live in. Doesn't make me mindlessly against other views being expressed.
I hate all these slurs only used to paint a negative picture of your opponent. I hate them whichever side is using them. It's pathetic and shows a fear of your enemy that you need to caracatureize them. Just stick to debate, can't we all?
Incessantly bringing it up is what keeps it going. That and preference of any kind for any race in any decision.
You wouldn't even notice neo-Nazis marching in the streets if people didn't always have something bad to say about it.
So minorities speaking up about the racism they experience is what is keeping racism alive? Are you sure it isnt the actual racism they're experiencing keeping it alive?
As to ************ remark about certain folks denying they can't be racist: i find it laughable that that seems one of the most important aspects of why racism in general or the discussion about it is being kept alive. Obviously downplaying the amount of racism is a bigger factor in why others keep bringing it up. Sure, a certain amount of racist or ethnic discrimination may crossover in or may actually be class discrimination, but far from all.
No, that can't be. Racism doesn't exist anymore. Or if it does, it's only because someone brings it up. Like, I'll say, "You're a racist," and then someone else will say, "Well I hate niggers!" That's how it works. You're reminding people that race exists, and then they say and do racist things, just as a knee-jerk reaction.
Here ya go... I didn't post the videos...look them up....Okay, here's a few... I believe there are at least 3 more but I don't subscribe to The Washington Post. Six times President Trump said he is the least racist person ...
It's not about forcing everyone to act nor worship alike. The reason for the pledge of allegiance and prayer starting at an early age is to 1) unify people toward a common interest and goal, and 2) acknowledge a power greater than that of the most powerful men so that we all know that how we treat our fellow beings is being monitored and that we'll all be called to task. It's pretty hard to stand against a loving, respecting community but evil hearts will try to do so by hiding their agenda and disgusting it as something else. I haven't reviewed the studies you mentioned but I've certainly been party to both left wingers and right wingers - there's high and low intelligence folks on both ends. I believe the right acts "smarter" than the left, generally speaking, because the right tends to implement systems which stand the best chance of leading to the best overall outcome for everybody, while the left tends to have good specific goals but no practical way to achieve them. Sure, the idea of our country going down the tubes because increasingly people want to live off the efforts of others without carrying their own weight does make me feel bitter at times. But... it's largely young people and they're gonna be the ones who pay the price for their own arrogance. I do feel for my kids and grandkids.
You're correct, giving whites preference just because they are white is wrong. What is that interest? What is that goal? You must be a communist. BTW, "god" should be removed from the pledge of allegiance, and religion has no place in our education system. There is a reason that church, and state are separate.
I notice that a lot too, not only with racism but also with other stuff that's brought up in an inconvient amount for certain people: concerns about climate change is a noticable example. But to be fair: I do it too with for example people whining about cultural appropriaton or unreasonable antifeminism.
So you're fine with instituting mandatory prayer to Allah in schools, then? Public schools could even follow the Adhan, or Islamic call to prayer. Multiple times a day. Since it isnt about forcing people to be like you, since it's all about a unifying force and belief in a higher power, it shouldnt matter to you who that higher power is. Or maybe it does matter to you and it is all about how you personally worship, and describing it in those terms, as prayer to a being you dont believe in, maybe makes you realize forcing any sort of religion in school is unconstitutional and wrong and distasteful to all who dont subscribe to that particular religion and higher power?
I'm having trouble imagining what you imagine when you say being suckered in by him. I expect that could be a very wide spectrum to include both ends of approval/disapproval.
You start out with a good point. It matters to all, so under current climate it should be generic enough to include even Muslims. But since you invited it, I'd be "fine" if Muslim inclusion were discontinued. They believe the opposite of all other religions so they honestly don't belong. I'm talking about the talk, not the people, before you "trump" me. The public inclusions in prayer and influences on policy, not necessarily the existence thereof kept minimal. Your second point went adrift when you started trying to make it all about me instead.
I hear you. I do. Well expressed. But I don't want to live in a kind of world where we're guilty until proven innocent. That matters to me. I don't have much material but I'd like to live out my tercera edad in the manner to which I'm accustomed. If we don't follow law and logic, where does that leave us?
People who think he's a friend to the working class and the poor. People who think he's honest. People who think he's a Christian. Those kind of suckers.
