Your assumptions border on downright rude accusations, and the last thing I require is your opinions about Asian philosophy. You know less about the subject than almost any Taoist I know, and intellectualize about how to stop intellectualizing, while repeating yourself. One of us is actually not talking just to hear the sound of our own voice. Some of us have actually spent time around well known Taoists and even Taoist priests, and know total bullshit when we hear it. I would sooner consult Wikipedia for knowledge on the subject, and they are run by militant atheists and are about as biased as it gets.

Again, I am nothing like Winnie the Pooh you scrape off your shoes. I make Zen masters look foolish on a daily basis, because I am not some sort of Casper Milktoast Taoist who merely contemplates their navel and spoons out soup to the homeless. If that's what you want to do with your time, go for it, but I have a Rainbow Family who don't need anymore mainstream bullshit, and an entire planet falling apart from ignorance. Mother Nature is returning, and she will speak for herself. Joining the Yin World is about to become compulsory, for all of humanity.

Its about damned time too, all this bullshit has gone on for 12,000 years. The Native Americans just shook their heads when they saw the white man cutting down all the trees and kill all the animals, knowing mother nature would not allow it forever.

Alcoholism is prohibited in Islam and the mainstream sects of Hinduism and Buddhism. This also goes for taoism wtih the exception that watered wine is not an issue in religious ceremonies and feasts.

Alcohol is an intoxicant that makes the mind unconscious instead of aware, and most crimes and road accidents have been attributed to alcohol. It also crops up health issues and diseases including brain damage, lowered immunity and cancer.

10 health risks of chronic heavy drinking: Liver disease, pancreatitis, cancer

The reason why one takes alcohol and drugs is to induce self-forgetfulness and to relax the heavy stress and strain on the psyche due to the tensions of egoic existence. But the effect of alcohol is temporary and when the hangover ends, the worries and anxiety is back again. And due to alcohol's adverse effects on the body and mind, one also ends up with weaker problem solving abilities, and thereby bigger problems and issues.

Practice of Meditation, Qigong, Tai Chi are considered to be effective ways to align with the Tao.

You don't know the meaning of conservative until you get to know Asians. So called peaceful, open minded, Winnie the Pooh Taoists have kicked me off all their websites, just for using potty humor extrapolated from the Tao Te Ching. We know who the fuck they are and claim to be, and they are just more conservative mainstream collectivists. Rainbow Gatherings originally forbade alcohol consumption anywhere in public but, after decades, they finally conceded to allowing a single camp that was not in everyone's face to drink openly. In general, hippies recommend using only marijuana and LSD, as alternatives to using seriously addictive drugs and those like alcohol with a well deserved reputation for promoting violence.

Note that religious Taoism is about as popular in the west as fleas and tics and has little to offer westerners. Not that it ever had more to offer Asians than escape from their own ultra conservative societies. Some Taoist masters are still taken away from their families and raised as monks from about eight years old. That's one way to keep a religion alive, especially when homosexuality is taboo in your culture.

The religious philosophies of Taoism, Buddhism, Sufism, Jainism and Advaita have ensured that the phenomenon of enlightenment is still comprehded properly to some extent in the east, and have created a rare culture that brings upon the flowering of enlightened sages.

Western civilization is of very recent origin. Mathematics and technology came from the east to the west, and helped to bring Europe out of the decadent dark ages to some extent.

The Sankhya (number) philosophy created the conceptual basis for the numeral system, while the Shunyata(emptiness) philosophy of Buddhism created the conceptual basis for zero. The modern numeral system employed in the west is still based upon the sanskrit numeral system of India, and forms the backbone of western science, technology and commerce which are dependent on indepth calculations, which cannot be performed with the roman numeral system.

The binary system, which uses only two symbols, zero and one, is used by all computers and computer based devices for functioning and encoding data.

The phenomenon of enlightenment or Buddhahood in the east is still not comprehended or is highly misunderstood in the west, and they have made Jesus Christ, an enlightened master into a figure synonymous with God and 'the only Son of God', due to misunderstanding and misinterpretion of his teachings.

Worse, they have created negative philosophies like nihilism and existentialism which only gives a partial and lopsided understanding of existence, maintains that all virtues and values are abstractly contrived without any inherent value of their own, and ushered in tremondous strife and conflict in the process (such as the destructive world wars), and will continue to do so.

The example of female enlightened sage Rajini Menon, and teachings of Advaita and Buddhism has shown that adherence to virtues and values brings about higher states of consciousness leading to enlightenment, and are valuable in itself, in stark contrast to nihilism and existentialism.

Female enlightened master Rajini Menon on attaining enlightenment by adhering to virtuous conduct...

The entire world is divided in half, because mother nature demands it. Asian languages are better for things like quantum mechanics, while western languages are better for engineering. You could say western cultures reflect the conscious mind more, and Asians the subconscious, while all of our mathematics and technology are currently converging on the best ways to express both simultaneously. The simple fact that neither culture is obviously enlightened, goes without saying.

In Asia, Buddhism is known as a "rootless" religion that is popular everywhere except where it originated, and frequently waters down their teachings to the point of absurdity, just to make them compatible with whatever culture they are attempting to convert. From their point of view, its like a fad that has endured the test of time. I've had the privilege of knowing some the most accomplished Taoist masters alive today, and I have the utmost respect for their accomplishments, but they do the world little good, and its going down the toilet rather fast. Sorry, but enlightenment is too expensive, and I don't have time to contemplate my navel, while the whole world falls apart.

Call me selfish, but I want my grandkids to inherit a planet. Until I start seeing some serious fucking results or hearing just one asshole start to talk more sense, enlightenment is for the birds. Others can wait for Jesus or Buddha to return, but they have no clue what is coming.

Contemplation of the navel or watching the breath or watching the grass grow as in zen, are just watchwords to ensure that one is equanimous minded, patient and aware, and not continually agitated by ones cravings/aversions for pleasure/pain and becoming negative, emotive and conflict prone in the process. They are just methods to slow down the agitated mind and bring the mind to present moment awareness rather than live perpetually in psychological time, as in past or future in worries and anxiety and consequent psychological suffering.

Jesus have also mentioned about living in the moment like the lilies of the field, rather than in mindless anxiety and paranoia which create more harm than good, even if one have good intentions.

Whatever. The world needs a little more constructive input than saying "Don't Worry Be Happy" or "Jesus Saves". Christianity, Buddhism, Taoism, etc. are not doing anything to save the world in any visible way that seems to be making any real difference. For some, contemplating their navel is as helpful as they can be, which is fine with me. The Dragon comes from the religious tradition and has helped me, but she has no clue what I write, only that mother nature insisted she help me. She is perhaps the most accomplished meditator in all Asia, widely believed to be the most powerful witch or geni on the planet. Her help has been invaluable, but even she cannot do what I do, precisely because she is not like me at all.

We are yin and yang, and the idea we would be better off without each other or if were identical is absurd. The minute I see a Buddhist walk on water I'll start to take them seriously. I know what meditation is about, but I am brain damaged and paying my karma like everyone else. If mother nature offered me enlightenment again, I would just turn her down, because none of the so-called enlightened people are writing the book that can never be written, and humanity is about to require all the help they can get.

I was a skeptic all my life, and now I see the reality and value of magic, but science and magic are about to converge, and all the stupid bullshit will fall to the wayside. The ignorance of the ages is about to meet mother nature, and meeting her is tough enough without the whole world falling apart.

The issue perhaps is that you are attracted to that which is sensational and 'happening' while the ordinary and mundane may seem boring and not fun. But this is the paradox involved in the whole thing. That which is fun happens to be boring in the long run, and that which is boring becomes fun in the long run. It is just a clever trap to dupe the foolish.

That which seems like poison at first, but tastes like nectar in the end, is said to be happiness in the mode of goodness. It is generated by the pure intellect that is situated in self-knowledge. ~ Krishna ,BG 18.37

Happiness is said to be in the mode of passion when it is derived from the contact of the senses with their objects. Such happiness is like nectar at first but poison at the end.~ BG 18.38

”There are two paths—one is the ‘beneficial’ and the other is the ‘pleasant’. These two lead humans to very different ends. The pleasant is enjoyable in the beginning, but it ends in pain. The ignorant are snared to the pleasant and perish. But the wise are not deceived by its attractions, choose the beneficial, and finally attain happiness.” - Kathopanishad

There are yogis who have exhibited psychic abilities mentioned above, and there is a popular story of a yogi who boasted of his skill to walk on water after practicing penance in a forest for 14 years. The spiritual master who heard the yogi stated that he had only wasted fourteen years to walk across water to the other shore, something that a boatman could do for a few paisa.

For the unenlightened, such psychic abilities appear as ego trips which prevent enlightenment and such siddhis or powers are considered as the refuse of yoga. Exhibition of psychic abilities is harmless for the enlightened.

Trailanga Swami was an enlightened one who exhibited such powers openly.

I have personally witnessed such psychic abilities in enlightened masters and much of it can be shocking and even traumatic for people who had lived in a conditioned society who believe that the material and mechanical world is the fundamental reality.

LOL, I'm attached to my words, which are mathematical and demonstrable, and not merely mystical, metaphysical, mumbo jumbo.

Its so liberating to be able to actually see how the words coming out of your mouth, describe physical reality, with mathematical precision. The Pale Buddha himself expressed an interest in fuzzy logic, but it never went anywhere until modern times, because Buddhists think words are a fashion statement, while the civilized Chinese are so conservative they are lucky to have finally entered the 21st century.

Fuck em if they can't take a joke, and joke em if they can't take a fuck, but all the stupid bullshit with idiots claiming to know the mind of God has got to stop. Learn how to share your words, or suffer the consequences.

Since you are obsessed with words, you can try out western enlightened master Jed Mckennna's spiritual autolysis which to a large extent uses written words and writing as a method of self-inquiry to reach that which is true and eliminate the false.

“Writing it down on paper or on a computer where you can see it is because the brain, unlikely as it may sound, is no place for serious thinking. Any time you have serious thinking to do, the first step is to get the whole shootin’ match out of your head and set it up someplace where you can walk around it and see it from all sides. Attack, switch sides and counter-attack. You can’t do that while it’s still in your head. Writing it out allows you to act as your own teacher, your own critic, your own opponent. By externalizing your thoughts, you can become your own guru; judging yourself, giving feedback, providing a more objective and elevated perspective.” ~ Jed Mckenna

Some great quotes of Jed for contemplation...

Jed Mckenna has his own forum on the net and you can ask him any questions directly if needed. He seems very accessible.

LOL, he can read my book. Fuck anyone's ideas about the truth, either your words express mathematics or they don't, either they describe the world around you the way you say they do, or they are gibberish to me. The bullshit that can be spoken of is not the enduring bullshit, which is why it so mathematical. The self-evident truth requires no explanation. Set your words free and understand what wu-wei-wu is about. The nicest compliments I have ever had, were for things I didn't think twice about doing or saying.
