If you live in the UK for more than 6 months between 1980 and 1996, you can't donate blood because of the risk of being a carrier of mad cow disease.

    Hehehe.

I love donating blood. Actually I don't. I just like the fact it helps people.

My blood type is A- CMV- meaning it is on the rare side to begin with, and even more so because it is CMV negative…so it goes straight to newborns.

Do you guys buy candy and cookies when kids are selling them to raise money? Kids selling things, idk, it makes me uneasy.

My friend and I walked out of a store yesterday and we got bombarded by at least 5 or 6 girl scouts yelling, "GIRL SCOUT COOKIES!!!!!" holy shit, that was a little too much..

Well, we didn't want any and I had actually just gone in the store to pick up a big bag of prescriptions (for type 1 diabetes) and I had always joked about replying to anyone trying to sell me candy that I'd say "I'm diabetic." I did end up saying it, but not too loud, really just said it to make my friend laugh. I don't know if the kids would have even understood the joke.

But, omg, as we walked away shaking our heads that no we didn't want girl scout cookies, I felt all of those little girls judging us and just in disbelief that we weren't buying any. Girl scouts are very frightening.

I tried to give blood once but it ended very, very badly lol.

As far as time/money, I don't as much as I should. I don't have much money to give. When I'm a bitter better off, I'd like to think I will donate more.

I have a hard time saying no to kids. I hardly ever carry cash, so that helps. My husband is worse than me. He'll actually go to the ATM, because he too does not carry cash, to donate to whatever it is the kids are selling.

I give 100.00 to Saint Judes Childrens Hospital each month. For those who don't know about them they do Cancer research and will work on Children for absolutley free. At the same time they will take care of all expenses for the parents while the child is being treated, house payments, everything so all they have to concentrate on is the child getting better. The parents stay with the child during that time.
