Word. Still a nice thought though. All the regular people, be they straight or gay; young or old; black, white or somewhere in between; Christian, Jew, Muslim, atheist or other; conservative, liberal, independent or whatever could get together in the streets and celebrate how boring they are. And it would be over early because, you know, it'll be tomorrow before you know it they'll have to go to work or school/take care of the kids/mow the grass/get to a dentist appointment or some other boring thing.

 

In other words, it was meant to ridicule gay pride marches, which were important events on the path to LGBTQ liberation. Straight Pride was organized by social conservatives to counter gay pride. And that's why Straight Pride parades are objectionable. Why should LGBTQs have a sense of humor about being made the brunt of a bad joke? In my part of the country, who you have sex with and how is serious business, and the state legislature has done everything it can legally do to restrict homosexuals--from authorizing private agencies to deny gay adoptions on religious grounds to permitting discrimination against LGBTQs in employment and provision of goods and services. So I think the promoters of Straight Pride marches and their supporters are jerks.

As for the gay man who was the grand marshal, that was your erstwhile heart throb, Milo, once darling of the AltLite, since fallen from grace over the pedophile matter--largely unprincipled, pimping for AltLite causes, and desperate to do anything for attention.

Maryland is a largely poor state that gets a lot of its money from serving as a suburb for DC bureaucrats. Lower taxes is not a political party, and Libertarians get all the credit they deserve.

Normal people voted for a cartoon, roughly 30% of the voters in Maryland before the Libertarian legislature decided that more laws were better, and the voters don't know what they want, and made it illegal. Its been possible for years now to replace almost every bureaucrat in DC and public school teachers in the country with AI programs. That's about 5,000,000 jobs saved! We could put them to work building the Wall!

There is more going on under the surface. First, you can't deny the historical view of homosexuality and the social dynamic that comes with that. Gay pride parades were about admitting who you are without getting beaten or killed, about your family still loving you, things that are important to people. Has that EVER really happened to people simply because they are straight? Even if you feel offended men kiss in public how many dads disown their sons if he says he wants to marry a women?

Now it's probably just a party day. Yes, some people still can't come out of the closet but it's a very different world than even 20 years ago. Fun and nice people come to gay pride. No one cares if you are gay it's not really about that. I guess gay people would call these people "friends" or "allies".

No one cares if you are straight. It's seems to be some sort of Fox News idea that gay people hate you or get a kick out of pushing their life onto you. No, it's Fox that still has an issue with it.

"Straight pride"=alt-right angry white men who still remember when being gay was categorized as a mental illness and it was only discussed in hushed embarrassed circles. So any sort of gay stuff is always a war on their way of life. If gay people are in the open it means they have to deal with it and kids will see it and think it's normal. For hateful, ignorant, or religious reasons they don't like it.

There is plenty of straight stuff in the media and art and whatever else you can name. Usually, being gay is a background thing as much as straight is a thing when gay media anyway. Like it might lead to certain goals or opinions but it's not all the show is about.

If fun and nice people wanted to come to straight pride that's fine. Those people are not interested in persevering the rights of heteotsexual conservative men. That's why the parades are different they seek different goals for the order of society. It's a bit funny and sad to see these type of men so upset at the slightest hint of men who are not like them when the men they fear lived like for centuries.
