I heard a republican strategist say that if the dems proceed with impeachment process, they will lose the house, republicans retain the senate, and trump is reelected. I don't know where he came up with this. Seems like wishful thinking. Consider that this guy is tasked with trying to get republicans elected to congress, from California. His track record is not very good. Pompeo is an ass, and always has been.
This is somewhat interesting. I have been a rather vocal skeptic of the probability of Trump being impeached by the Senate. This article says otherwise. Don't assume the Senate would *never* remove Donald Trump - CNNPolitics
Donald Trump sets Twitter record as White House fights off impeachment inquiry David Jackson and John Fritze, USA TODAY Published 5:28 p.m. ET Oct. 1, 2019 Donald Trump sets Twitter record as White House fights off impeachment inquiry excerpt: "WASHINGTON – It's not your imagination: President Donald Trump is tweeting more. Amid calls for his impeachment and preparations for his reelection bid, Trump tweeted or retweeted nearly 800 times during an eventful September, about 100 posts beyond what he published in any previous month of his presidency, according to a USA TODAY analysis. His monthly tweet frequency has steadily risen for months. The president tweeted in his own words 500 times last month, twice his average monthly frequency in 2018." video: "Are you nervous?"
I was confused by what you said about the matter going away? I don't think it is going away. There are some powerful people working on the issue. How America works and What America is all about is at stake here.
His mention of civil war should worry everyone on here. For the last 3 years I've been saying the KKK and Confederates have infiltrated the Republican Party and they still want the South to rise again. The White Nationalist movement is all about a civil war. Trump has openly said he is a White Nationalist. This is serious doo-doo.
It is worrisome, and highly irresponsible on his part. He's just so self-grandiose, though, that that is what he thinks. That we should have a civil war over him. Fuck him. He may not realize the authority a president has, but then he shouldn't be president.
Farmers not being made whole by Trump’s trade wins By RYAN MCCRIMMON 09/30/2019 12:00 PM EDT Farmers not being made whole by Trump’s trade wins excerpt: "But farmers are losing patience as their crops continue to pile up in storage, potentially jeopardizing Trump’s support among a group that was key to his election in 2016. Even though they’re getting federal bailout payments to help ease losses from the trade war, many are desperate for Trump to cut a deal with China. Farmers “are not starting to do great again,” said Brian Thalmann, president of the Minnesota Corn Growers Association, at an industry gathering last month. “Things are going downhill, and downhill very quickly.” U.S. farmers spent decades cultivating customers in China, and the market dwarfs others with its sheer size and its potential for growth. The U.N. projected in 2017 that China will account for 29 percent of the growth in global meat consumption alone through 2026. That’s more than North America, most of Europe, Australia, Chile, Japan, South Korea and others combined."
On his current trip, at least Perdue didn't make a boneheaded remark that referred to a room of complaining U.S. farmers as a 'whine cellar' like he did on a previous trip. Agriculture secretary: No guarantee family dairy farms can survive By Justine Coleman 10/01/19 01:09 PM EDT Agriculture secretary: No guarantee family dairy farms can survive excerpt: "Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue warned Tuesday during a trip to Wisconsin that family dairy farms may not survive as the factory farm model moves to overtake them. Perdue told reporters after attending the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wis., that dairy farmers in the state are increasingly struggling to make a living wage if they are milking fewer than 100 cows, The Associated Press reported. “In America, the big get bigger and the small go out,” Perdue told reporters, according to the AP. “I don’t think in America we, for any small business, we have a guaranteed income or guaranteed profitability.” The Trump Cabinet official told reporters that the 2018 farm bill will assist farmers, but small farms may still face more difficulty competing. The farm bill aims to reestablish agriculture programs to ensure American farms survive."
I'm feeling dejected about the ability of Congress to come to any kind of agreement on the matter. I watch the news on CNN and on Fox (when it's not "The Five" or Tucker Carlson...) and they both paint a different picture, but I guess the idea I get is that with the republican majority in the senate, there isn't exactly a likelihood of impeachment. I feel like something ought to be done, but ultimately I feel the most important thing is that Trump not win another term. If he is impeached it's because he's guilty! But if he's not, that doesn't mean he's innocent. I feel like it means the Senate is corrupt.
So what would the liberals next move be if the impeachment inquiry absolves Trump (on the Ukraine shit anyway) but turns up dirt on Biden?
I think the Democrats are building the case against him right now. There are six committees working of different parts of the case. When the work is done they'll announce which charges they will pursue. For other news sources try Amy Goodman's Democracynow.org?
There's a strong likelihood of impeachment, which is simply bringing the charges by a simple majority of the House. It's conviction and removal that are unlikely, because of Republican control of the Senate.
If this country had any sense, he'd be impeached just for bringing up civil war. Do you realize how dangerous that is? Or doesn't it matter to you, since you're from the land of down under where everything that goes on here is just masturbatory fodder for you?
