He might as well say Donald Duck doesn't want to be the first American hanged on national television, after being raked over the coals for a long time. What a shocking surprise. He seemed so confident. Too bad, I'd love to see him and Giuliani hang together, and kick each other as they die. Sends a nice message to the Mafia.

    Trumps latest tweet…….

“As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate, if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey” ..............

......….for I am the Great Imperial Grand Poobah of the D.C., I am the conqueror of world’s, I’ve eaten more cheeseburgers in one sitting than joey chestnut, I was the first man on the moon,
I was invited to join the omega society because I’m a stable genius, I slept with my daughter ivanka and she said I was the best lover she's ever had, it was I, not James Watson and Francis Crick
that discovered the DNA molecule, I personally saved the lives of everyone in the state of Alabama by warning them of an impending Hurricane, The U.S. Navy wants to commission a ship in my name,
My face is on the dollar bill, It was I, and I alone, not Alexander Fleming that discovered penicillin, can you believe it, they still call me the Wizard of Menlo Park? I certainly can believe it because i'm a
fucking narcissistic lunatic with visions of godhood"

Only so long as nobody pulls back the curtain to reveal the sad con artist and third rate stage magician. Somebody should start selling snake oil to Libertarians. Just put a lot of cheap alcohol in it and they'll love it to death. Give it names like "Freedom Elixor".

Trump claims himself to be the evidence. No other evidence needed.

Trump firm 'refusing to pay' legal bill for windfarm case
Scottish government says US president’s company has not accepted bill of tens of thousands of pounds
    Severin Carrell Scotland editor
    Tue 8 Oct 2019 07.41 EDT

Trump firm 'refusing to pay' legal bill for windfarm case

    excerpts:

"A Scottish court ruled in February this year the Trump Organization had to pay the Scottish government’s legal costs after his attempt to block an 11-turbine windfarm in Aberdeen Bay ended with defeat in the UK supreme court in 2015.

The Scottish government has said Trump’s firm has refused to accept the sum it had put forward or reach an agreement on costs, so the case is now in the hands of a court-appointed adjudicator."

"Trump launched his campaign against the Aberdeen Bay windfarm in 2012 after claiming the “monstrous” project, a scheme to test wind turbine technologies, would ruin the view from his golf resort at Menie, north of Aberdeen, and dissuade guests from playing there.

He took his battle to the Scottish parliament, claiming the country’s heavy investment in onshore windfarms would ruin its tourism industry. In one famous exchange with MSPs, Trump insisted the committee did not need to call any witnesses to verify his claims.

“I am the evidence,” he said. “I’m an expert in tourism. I have won many, many awards … if you dot your landscape with these horrible, horrible structures, you will do tremendous damage.”"

Being a narcissist can compel Trump to resign from a battle in a murky way that, in his mind, saves his face.

Trump has compromised in the past by settling privately in court with a confidentiality agreement when a case was about to go to a public jury trial. He does this to save his face when he fears losing in public and to claim that he won when in fact he compromised and lost at least something. The case of the Polish construction workers that he battled from circa 1980 to 1995 is an example. He relinquished on the Trump University lawsuit, knowing that it would be embarrassing to be in the court room in a public trial while President. His funneling of hush money to Stormy Daniels to protect his ego and campaign is another example.

A trial in the Senate would be the ultimate fear-of-losing situation for Trump. He may also have a fear of his perceived great reputation being damaged by a successful filing of articles of impeachment against him even if he had enough votes in the Senate to be acquitted.

If he really thought it was probable that he would lose, he might resign the Presidency to try to save his face, like he has done when settling privately in court. After resigning (and pardoning himself before resigning to avoid future federal criminal prosecution), he could claim that he would have won in the Senate and fabricate an excuse for his resignation that didn't have anything to do with his fear of loss in the Senate.

Nixon made a similar move when he resigned just before the House was to vote on impeachment articles. He knew that there were enough House votes for the articles and that he didn't have the votes in the Senate to survive. He claimed that the impeachment/trial process would put the country through too much grief.

Trump probably wouldn't fabricate an excuse that sounded altruistic like Nixon. Trump might use the persecution ploy and say that a trial would have put him and perhaps his closest family members through too much grief.

That's a good breakdown, but its still easier to just to think of him as a chicken, and chickens are the masters of acting indignant, in his case, like a three year old who is a compulsive liar, and gets caught with his hand in the cookie jar. So long as he resigns, he can avoid the truth coming out and give whatever indignant reason he chooses, the more indignant the better as far as he is concerned. He compulsively points fingers at every fucking person around him, even the ones he hires who are willing to bend over backwards for him. Like any chicken, he is only aware of the reality that, "By who you hate, by this are you truly known, and if you knew who I really was, you would hate me even more."

He's so far gone there's really nobody home, just a bundle of bad habits and worse attitudes. A chicken can be considered a social version of a cockroach, or Groucho Marx. Both are largely just bundles of bad habits and worse attitudes, that substitute for a complete lack of brains, and impose normalization so they don't die as fast or as often. Its Monty Carlo statistics that assume that ignoring things, including the truth, is more often productive than focusing on what we might really want. Chickens fight over food not because they are necessarily hungry, but because they fight over everything and those with the best memories for who to attack and who to avoid, reproduce more often.

He sees himself as a rooster, and the idea that he's lost a fight is not welcome. That's what happens when you are born with a silver spoon in your mouth into a culture that places money on a pedestal, are tall, white, and privileged and watch way too much professional wrestling and reality TV. Very likely, there have been few times when anyone has ever managed a genuine conversation with the man. Although I poke fun at him all the time, its only because the lights are on and nobody is home, and not because I don't believe he has a human soul every bit as valuable as anyone else. Its just buried so deep he will likely never set himself free, and he has been destroying the entire country and inciting civil war, sadly, just by being himself, and reflecting the values of over a third of the country.

So the White House is blocking testimony from a key witness in the Ukraine scandal. Donald Trump says he would love for Gordon Sondland to testify, but he doesn't trust the "kangaroo court". I think the testimony would have been anti-climactic anyway; it usually disinterests me because they balk and stonewall and answer funny whenever they testify. The media looks for a suitable soundbite to spin the next days' news. And that gets old.

But I think that Congress has the right to oversight powers and the administration is hindering that right.

Well, that makes three things concerning acts by Trump that I happen to agree with. (1) I agree with leaving Syria to the locals … Turkey, Syria, and Iraq. Iraq's Shia had more to do with killing ISIS fighter than the Kurds. (2) I agree with pressure on China over the Uighurs. (3) I agree with strong border security … but not abusive behavior inflicted on migrants. And Oh! One last thing! I wouldn't have fucked that porn star. It reduced his stature among the evangelicals.

Going to have to disagree. The Shia had little to do with fighting ISIS. While I agree that the US should not be the world's policeman, the US chose that role. For the US to abandoned it's allies leaves a bad taste in many mouths.
Re: Turkey. There is an opinion that Turkey, and Saudi Arabia were factors in the formation of ISIS, with the de facto support of the US, and Israel.

If I had to guess, he's already decided to resign and is merely preventing anyone from testifying before he does so, to prevent anymore of this from being exposed in the media. Once he is pardoned, there will be no reason to investigate him in particular, and he will try to deny any connection to the crimes of others in his name.

Pat Robertson says Trump is in danger of losing the "Mandate of Heaven" for ditching the Kurds. Uh,oh. Nothing else Trump has done so far has tarnished his five gold star standing with the Almighty (and Evangelicals), but this one is crossing the line! His halo is in jeopardy, and if he keeps it up, he might even lose his wings!

I agree with most. According to the Iraqi government and newspapers, it was the Hashed Shaabi Shia militias who did most of the fighting.
