    Mining for resources, okay
But trash or like..building factories that pump out the pollutants that have screwed our planet up? Nah dawg
It would just mean humans leave this planet without ever learning anything from our time here.
The leave no trace philosophy should apply in space too

Because 'other planets' have little or no atmposphere and are, therefore a viable target for any passing chunk of asteroid, comet or meteor that crosses their path. If 'we' determine to inhabit these planets, then we too become collateral damage should a chunk of space rock happen to collide right where 'we' have established a colony.

It might depend on the environment, for all we know putting environment stressors on the planet or moon in question could be beneficial to humans but I agree in that arbitrarily polluting wouldn't be good.

  6. I think we should start sending all of our garbage to the moon and call it garbage moon.

That's why I said 'any living being, intelligent or microscopic'.

There is nothing to ruin on those planets I'm speaking of. I'm not advocating doing it like an idiot. But it's a fact they're isolated far away, so even if some kind of waste could escape that planet (or moon)s gravity it would not hurt anyone. It simply can't get to anything alive.

But not considering it because of some principle that doesn't even apply to such a lifeless, isolated far away environment would be idiotic :-D

The thing is this isnt even as hypothetical as anything else discussed on the last couple of pages, there is already trash in space. And I find it completely disgusting

We've kind of opened Pandora's Box so to speak. I mean how much of modern convenience would you really be willing to give up?

I've seen you talk about public transporation... Have you, in adult life, ever spent years without a car ? I have and it sucks. Coincidentally my dating life dried up, getting to and from work was a drag, just nothing really redeeming about it. I guess it depends where you live though.

I have seen the space junk images though and it looks like another couple centuries of that and we'll block ourselves in to prevent going anywhere in space.

I found this news very interesting.
It just confirms that when all this carbon and climate change stuff is going on, and the reasons for it:

Extinction Rebellion PAYING protestors £200,000 to cause chaos and grind London to a halt

Extinction Rebellion PAYING protestors £200,000 to cause chaos and grind London to a halt
EXTINCTION REBELLION is paying its campaigners up to £400 a week to cause chaos on the streets of the UK, it has been revealed.

Protesters have received payments of more than £200,000 since the beginning of the movement. The demonstrators are demanding urgent action on climate change claiming “the government has failed to protect us”.
The documents, seen by the Mail on Sunday, revealed activists have been paid more than £200,000 since the start of the scheme, the cost of the payments is increasing by at least £40,000 a month and activists are targeting high net worth individuals for more funds.

The documents have also shown the protest group spent £5,000 on a camping tour of Europe for key members.

One of the protesters was Tamsin Omond who is a baronet’s granddaughter who has made appearances in Tatler.

In response to the revelations, Extinction Rebellion have defended themselves on their website saying the cash is simply given as a “Voluntary Living Expense” claim.

Thousands of protesters have bought London to a standstill by blocking roads and bridges and forcing emergency vehicles to be diverted.

The Met Police’s latest figures show 1,290 arrests have been made so far in connection with Extinction Rebellion protests this week.

The Met Police chief Cressida Dick has said that the police force are “stretched” by the protests.

Some protesters even handcuffed themselves to cars and glued themselves to government buildings.

This week British Transport Police have been forced to bring in police officers from as far away as Wales to London to try and control the protest group.

NASA already has mini space bots designed to clean up the mess. They may let millions die on the ground from all the pollution, but those satellites are fucking expensive.

That's the thing though, the public transportation system in the US sucks outside of a few major cities. But that doesnt mean we couldnt have a good public transportation system. We could, and we could make it more appealing than the cost and upkeep of a car. Same with making urban areas more bicycle friendly. Actually, rural areas too, it should be standard for most roads to have bike lanes
Same with other things too. I dont think we have to go back to the 1800s to go green, I think the opposite is true, we need to put money, time, research, human ingenuity into looking forward and coming up with greener technology and a better system.

Disposable consumer culture does need to go though but I dont really see that as giving up conveniences. I can think of dozen ways to cut plastic waste off the top of my head and it wouldnt be a real inconvenience for anyone. In terms of consumer culture we do need to return to previous generations who refilled glass instead of buying plastic, who bought well made quality items instead of cheap junk that only lasts a few months.

Anyways I could go really into depth with this but I'll stop there.
I just think people need to be willing to use their imagination on this. We're in a bad spot, for all the technological advancements humanity has achieved, we've really designed a shitty system that has distanced us from nature. But there's nothing stopping us from designing a better system except a belief that we cant

Jane Fonda says she's getting arrested every Friday over what is becoming known as The Climate Crisis. For those who don't know she's 81 and she was arrested at a protest. I think they were demonstrating for action on climate change, but I haven't read that much about. Yet.
The CNN video is kind of long, but you get the gist pretty quickly when you hear her speak.

The trolley here is about as efficiently routed as can be considering as many destinations it has, which people still gripe about but it's transferring to the buses which sucks and it seems more like an issue of bus companies only hiring a limited amount of bus drivers rather than the mode of transportation itself.

It technically already is cheaper than the upkeep of a car but spending 4 hours round trip commuting to a job on public transportation vs 30 min driving takes it's toll mentally and emotionally, and that time could be better spent at a part time job or doing stuff one enjoys.

So unless there is a replacement for buses in the works, I don't really see significant improvement.

If other planets and moons have ice, which we know by now that they do, even Mercury, then they have water in which we are all taught that means they have life.
So when people are like, oh other planets no atmosphere, we aren't hurting anything.... okayyyy...
Meanwhile we attribute worthwhile agendas to save the animals we already have on our planet, yet people seem to just turn a blind eye to anything living on another planet, micro organism or not. Seems a little hypocritical to me.
