I believe you are a fragment of the whole, which is all that is, and I call God. I believe that when you act from a place of love, eg you forgive someone, aid a homeless person, etc, you are demonstrating that. Love is God. I see that at face value. I don't mean to twist anything. When I see someone act in a Christ-like loving way, I see God.

I think nature has a big capacity for bouncing back if given the chance. I don't know if we're going to give it a chance in time though.

 

Mammals especially though, you need 100s of millions of years for them to bounce back

Yeah, I don't feel adressed there either. The focus of the convo may have been on human continuation but that's not the only life i care about lol. In fact, many of the things i want changed on earth is primarily for other life, not at first instance for humanity.

 

Its very unconstructively worded but i think its based on VGs previous arguing in other threads that it is better for the average citizen to not make an effort reducing waste/pollution because we might not be sure its worth the effort. Like, its better to just continue our fun polluting lifestyles and have a fun ride then be a 'do gooder' who has far less fun without guaranteed results.
A very destructive preach of course if acted upon by a lot of doubters. And it suits a lot of people.
I think there are a lot more people who are actually kind of ok with whatever happens in the future, than there people who are honest about that. If it means giving up some of their current conveniences and luxuries they think no, i rather continue with it whatever that might mean to future generations.

 

And when someone acts mean or commits harm to someone then what? Are they no longer a fragment of God?

 

If they are no longer a fragment of God, then God necessarily is not all that is.

If they are still a fragment of God, then essentially you are suggesting harm could be considered synonymous with love as well and I think that would be all the more reason to rid of the idea of equating God to love.

I don't think that's true, based only on some of the cases described in Our Planet documentary.. Whales and wild horses come to mind of populations which have dwindled to nearly nearly nothing, but have increased in population size due specifically to humans making efforts at conservation.

 

When the conversation DOES focus on her, half the participants are attacking her. This isn't all totally off topic, it's all come from discussing what she stands for.

The space stuff is my fault, originating in me saying that lowering the population and/or expanding into space was the only way to help Earth. It's not way off topic.

They're still a fragment of God. They just don't live in harmony with this fact. One doesn't cut off one's own arm, just like you don't hurt other people FOR NO REASON AT ALL.

Also, do you all look at Vanilla Gorilla's picture and truly think he's an innocent ape? Or am I just way more noticeable than him? Because when he attacks me, none of you say anything. He attacked me yesterday morning, and you all practically just told him it was cute and funny.

 

I don't think it has to feel as defending or justifying (even to GB ) But only expand on it of course if you feel like it, and yes, ideally in another thread.
Certain forummers just are interested in discussing perceptions of what God is, ESP if it seems different to them. So some ask critical questions, but its not to diss your beliefs. I also can jump on such an assertion like God is love and have done so on here many times (more as a theistic agnost than an atheist)
Don't expand on it if it doesn't suit you, but I also hope you're not going to stop mentioning It and your thoughts on it solely because of too many critical responses! Don't see it as defending (but i get: sometimes it just feels like that). Ok, im out of this topic until i have something on topic (not about space exploitation ) to add again!
