Ask a Jew what the OT says about abstinence during "periods" and sex right afterwards. Males are loaded up. Women are fertile.

Not in the OT but women also can get pregnant during their "period". Sperm have a habit of hanging around in the falopian tubes, sometimes for days.

Girls have been having periods for years, or at least if they are older than 12 or so. All that stuff has to come out somewhere. If it can come out, sperm can get in through the same opening.

It was from a comedy sketch some years ago, where a hermit was asked what he did for pleasure. The hermit replied that he used an old tree with a vagina shaped hole in one of the lower branches.
