I think Bush defeated Gore after the Clinton ordeal.

Bill Clinton won his second term before he was impeached. He wasn't removed from office so he served out the next year before he left when his term limits expired.

Clinton was replaced by George Bush when Bush won the 2000 election.

The two impeached presidents before Trump were Clinton and Andrew Johnson, neither tried to seek re-election.

 

Bush kind of won. He also lost the popular vote as did DT. Gore probably would have won had not a highly partisan Sec of State in Florida stopped the recount. The Fl vote was riddled with pro R irregularities.

 

That's such a salient point that's so routinely overlooked. Obama is the one who usurped Hillary's "turn" to be president. It short circuited years of planning.

The only reason Obama's breathing is likely because he put her on the cash cow of cabinet positions. I used to think his people got to her, but when I saw her campaign this last time I realized that it's just her. She's not made for campaigning because she's surrounded by people who agree with everything she dreams up. It leaves her vulnerable to people who talk for a living.

If you remember Bill Clinton got impeached over a rumour about him having sex with some random lady called Monica.
The fact is that he never was re-elected back in. Somebody new was elected in.
It's a bit like having a vote of no confidence in Australia's prime minister. They get replaced.
Then a general election is called.
Here in australia we had 3 PM's within a 4 year period.
Tony Abbott was elected in and then replaced by Malcolm Turnbull and then Malcolm Turnbull was replaced by Scott Morrison.
Scott Morrison called an election and was elected back in.
That's what i think impeachment is in australia. It's a replacement scheme.

Similar to Australia. We have 4 yearly elections. We have to put up with the Liberals who are piss farting about here in Australia.
I normally vote Labor which is a more caring party. The others just don't care about anything else.
The Greens are full of whingers who just protest about anything. They are a real pain in the butt at this time of year. (we have bushfires in NSW and Qld).
We have a racist party which is called One Nation.

After he is impeached and removed from office, they will not let him back in. In any case, I think Adam Schiff is going to put Trump in prison.

You know, it's possible that Bush will be in historical terms worse than Trump. To his credit, Trump doesn't seem cuckoo for invasions.

 

Good point … he did have me a little worried with all that "Little Rocket Man" talk. When he hit Syria's airfield I thought is was all show, because he is on good terms with Putin.

 

Bush jnr is no way near as bad as his now late old man. Bush Jr was a realist. He had a look at what was actually happening and was disappointed at what happened. I think he was still president when those terrorist attacks happened.

 

I used to wonder how the Romans ever became so insane, but scum floating to the top guarantees the most insane as well.

 

Probably invade somebody right before the election, just to fire up his base.
