Lame. Trump doesn't want to participate, cuz then he and his Republican defenders won't be able to complain about being excluded. Yes, US law, or at least US politics, can be confusing!

 

Oh I agree he's yanking the chain on this, but so are the democrats. If they can't legally compel these people to testify, then they have nothing. Sitting on their asses is the smart play here. Regardless of how it makes the democrats "feel".

Congress, acting as an investigative body has the power to compel people to testify going back to 1790's.

If Congress can't enforce it's own power against the executive branch, that says something about the growing power of the executive state which you should find troubling no matter how you feel about this particular event.

What if he's impeached bit not removed from office? Because that is what will certainly happen.

Impeachment is and was designed as solely a political tool because the department of Justice falls under the presidency.

This is interesting. It sounds like the representative in question has an interesting idea. He wants Republicans to be able to call as many witnesses as Democrats for the impeachment inquiry in the judiciary committee. It's being called an expanded panel.

I think we can all see what he's doing. But it feels like people pretend he's doing something else/tell everyone he's doing something else. It's not right. He treats the presidency like crap.
