I get a free eye exam every year along with a free pair of glasses through the VA. Although they don’t do contact lens.

That would be why they cost so much. All the smaller operations went bust because the insurance companies only deal with the franchises. And they up the price

You havent noticed that here? All the optometrists are either Bupa or Specsavers.

Glasses probably only cost $10 to produce. Specsavers charge you $100 and bulk bill the eye exam

Walk in to a $2 shop you can get lenses for $2 to $5

I don't qualify for Medicare, yet.

I've been self-pay, no vision, dental, or health insurance since 2010.

I have to wait until 2025 to enroll in Medicare.

 

I need to help my boyfriend look for a plan on the exchange later today. He hasnt had health insurance in a long time but he needs to get his knee checked out, hes been having issues a while.
So that should be fun, flushing our money and what not.
Or we could get married and I could add him to my work plan but holy shit, the difference between just having me and a child versus me, a child and a spouse is insane..like an additional 350 a month
But a plan on the exchange will probably cost that much anyways
So I might be a Mrs. soon

I wouldn't worry too much about the money issue . When your married you just tend to muddle though from week to week .
