I don't think the main reason he gets targeted with criticism from the Democrats is because he's Republican now.

I'll own up to it--I despise the prick. I don't like liars, those who denigrate others less fortunate than themselves, braggarts, cheats, and in his particular case--a person that has done well ( $$$$$ with daddys help) and as a result--not done good. He's a tiny little man in a bloated ,conscienceless body.

All those years Republicans have been trying to defund public education have paid off for them!

  11. How do you figure that? Schools today have more funding than they did 20 years ago. They also have more administrative positions.

Anyways I was just making a joke. But theres no denying red states dont place a ton of value on education.
Case in point, the other day all taxpaying citizens in my state received a $50 tax rebate check from the SC education lottery. They had an "overage" and felt returning it to the taxpayers was the right thing to do.
The education lottery was set up to fund public schools and provide scholarships to college students. PUT THAT OVERAGE TOWARDS EDUCATION YOU IDIOTS.
Anyways I'm just going to donate some supplies to my son's school with my $50. On principle.

And yet the US is still falling far behind, all those additional billions of dollars spent on education over the last couple of decades and nothing to show for it. No one, Democrat or Republican (and I'm talking regular folks here, not party leaders), seems to give a damn about having educated children. The US places great value, it seems, on being fat and entertained. But intelligent? No, then we'd be nerds, unpopular or whatever.

    I just read this today.

‘It Just Isn’t Working’: PISA Test Scores Cast Doubt on U.S. Education Efforts

  16. I have to admit that since I come from 2 lottery states, my perspective on school funding is skewed. When I was in public schools we had a program where students from one school district would be carried to another so that they could become smarter by being near smarter kids in a better performing school. However, that was not the primary purpose of this program. The primary aim was to bring about the end of racism. Lofty to be sure. But instead of the adults working it out, the boomers decided to farm out the effort to the schools and let their children work it out.

So, the "end of racism" was pivoting on what school children figured out. When that didn't work as planned, they created a national department and brought in "experts". Since the core goal is not actual education but instead a social experiment in overtime, our schools perform pitifully on the world stage. My neighbor's kid took a state blue ribbon in the science fair for a rocket engine that ran on cooking oil, crickets. But the football team came in 2nd in the district, throw parties, pep rallies and photo ops so they'll maybe do better next year. The disconnect is astounding, but it was the same in Plato's time.

Humans love to watch other humans beat the crap out of each other. These days it's sanitized for the squeamish, but it's still brutal enough to feed the vicarious expression of primal need.

And we're so far off the impeachment trail................................

Something that does puzzle me about this whole thing is how rabid all of American politics has become in the last decade. Especially in Washington. What I think has happened is that Trump has stepped in where the game was going to the short sellers. They were all gearing up for financial Armageddon and looking for 1 more democrat administration to get their compounds built, the population disarmed, and the border states functioning as buffer colonies. After all, the depression will last for decades. Geography will be important.

We're all to blame for this. The Dems have gone so far left that they are drowning in the Pacific and the Repubs have gone so far right that they are insane. Our grandparents had their political opinions also but they had other things that were far more important to consider...such as eating. They were the last normal generation. To the extent that the US still functions it is nothing more than momentum. I work with idiots. I stand in line at Walmart behind obese, tattooed numbnuts with their EBT cards and stupid looks on their faces. It's only going to get worse. I hate them all.

I actually support impeachment, not because I naively think it will do Trump any harm but because maybe a few assholes will get caught up in it and be busted. Yeah, it's like going through the world swatting flies. It won't make any perceptible difference but it is gratifying seeing assholes going to prison.
