Do you think she is going to become more militant or less militant as she gets older?

Yes its sad to attack a 16 yr old

The old fuddy duddys complaining about her I think are more worried about her message being putting youth and the future ahead of old bastards, not so much precisely about the environment.

Which is why I'm a fan; more money into cleaning up the world rather than spending on helping old people rot for longer. Which what most of healthcare is for

But I can also see her going full troppo in ten, twenty years, having her own little army of extinction rebellion nuts bombing petrol stations and chicken farms

  2. Don't know why you would want to attack somebody who is on the spectrum.
She's autistic. Her special interest is climate change.
Now everyone is salty of her because she was named Time's Person of the year.

  3. She might be home schooled due to her disability.
    Many people are.

I dont care if she is on the "spectrum" . I dont care if she actually has autism, it doesnt mean she is retarted. Just means her brain processes things differently, thinks differently

As I said, I'm a fan, at the moment

Not everyone with autism would agree with you

  9. I have autism mate.
I've had it since i was born.
I didn't start crawling until i was 2 years old.
I walked on my own when i was 3 years old.

    It affects everyone differently.
It's categorised as a hidden disability.

A better word would be "diffability" maybe : )

    You know, like from "different".

There's a reason it's called the autism spectrum though. For some it may be a disability. I have a cousin..or something, I'm actually not sure how we're related but at any rate she's severely autistic and has been dependent on her mom her entire life.
And then some have very high functioning autism and can work and live pretty normal lives

  14. That last paragraph you posted is bullshit and you know it.

  15. Its mostly, some of the older generation that is attacking her. Many of the older generation on this site have praised her. So, I'm not really being dismissive of an entire generation.
My parents, obviously much older than me, think she is an incredible young person who cares about this world we live in and I share their view.

I saw an offensive amount of Christmas lights and decorations in a residential area tonight and thought about this thread and wondered if most people lauding her and her message are mostly doing it in vain.

Maybe not to those extremes, but there is a distinct possibility if the momentum continues she will have a great deal of influence and not have to operate within the bounds of a government department, government of one country or a single organization and the checks and balances that go with that

  19. I don't think that will happen with her but time will tell..

I wonder if Greta was inspired by this quote?

So be the change. Recycle what you can. Drive a compact car, if not a hybrid. Use a bicycle when practical. Try to reduce the amount of trash you generate. Limit the number of children you have.

They may not sound like big contributions but if everyone did it we'd be much closer to getting the problem solved. Then we must get these corporations to minimize the pollution they create. That might require drastic action which we must be prepared for.
