Right, but unless it's become tyrannical, we need to work within the law.

Assange denied that he received DNC info from any govt source . The U.S. citizen who collected the info was murdered . The info
was hand-delivered to WikiLeaks via courier . Bernie Sanders became a much angrier man .

That's one point of view--Machiavelli's. But the "Political Man" of the political scientists is as much an caricature as is the "Economic Man" of the economists. The former is driven solely by the goal of seeking and keeping power, the latter by the goal of seeking and keeping wealth. But we know that neither adequately describes human behavior. Power and wealth are, for most of us, means to ends, not ends themselves, the ultimate end being happiness . Governments are always dependent on legitimacy which ties them to appeals to broader values than power and wealth. "For without justice, what are kingdoms but great robberies"(Saint Augustine). Aristotle saw virtue as the key to happiness, and in his Politics presents the political community as a vehicle for bringing about the virtuous life of the citizenry. Too bad our worldly cynicism has made that vision seem old fashioned. Without it, we condemn ourselves to a political life in which we'll all suffer in the long run.

In an ideal situation that should be the way it is. Unfortunately, those with money write the rules.

    That's becoming more common.

  7. As i stated earlier Assange was picked on because he's an aussie who was on holiday and was curious about US politics.
He's been in jail as an accused person for a few years now.

When did that happen? Last I heard, he was in jail in the U.K. for violating the Bail act, and still facing hearings to determine whether or not he'll be extradited to the U.S.

He is accused by the U.S. of violating the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, and is currently in a British jail serving time for violating the Bail Act over that rape charge the Swedes dismissed for lapse of time. He wore out his welcome in the Ecuadorian Embassy, so I guess there is no welcome home for him that I know of--if that means safe haven..

He's been accused of conspiring with Manning to hack NSA computer files, and by the U.K for breaking bail in that rape case recently dismissed by the Swedes owing to passage of time (dismissal of the rape case doesn't remove violation of the Bail Act). Being an Aussie doesn't confer legal immunity in U.S. or British courts. He might try pleading autism in a trial in the U.S., if there is one, although autism is no defense unless it amounts to insanity, defined in federal courts by the "substantial capacity" test of the Model Penal Code: that at the time of the alleged offense, as a result of mental disease or defect he lacked substantial capacity either to appreciate the criminality of his conduct or to conform his conduct to the requirements of law” (Model Penal Code § 4.01(1). He could give it a try, but I doubt he'll get anywhere with it. His best bet if he ends up convicted in the U.S. would be a pardon or commutation from Trump, who might give him a medal as well. (Trump: "I love Wikileaks!)

With Manning having received a pardon , what does that make of the crime ?

It's still a crime, even if pardoned. Maybe Assange will receive one, too.
