Panic is one of the guys who will never change their mind no matter what you say to him. Notice he likes Trump, who just said Iran will never have nukes; but, at the same time Trump lacks the nuts to confront Kim Jung Un about all his operable nukes. Nukes and Nuts are about who owns them?

I do notice he criticizes the left far more often than the right, including posters on here. So what you likely see is him reacting to a certain kind of unnuanced Trump hater. That doesn't make him like Trump.

The argument for this (seeing Iran as a bigger nuclear threat than North Korea, if they continue developing) is likely that they have secret intel that Iran has more serious plans. North Korea is more of a barking dog, even though they already have nukes. I'm not sure IF Iran actually aim to pose such a threat, or even worse, act on it. But I think Trump and/or US foreign intelligence might really believe so.

One thing is for certain now, Trump has thrown down the gauntlet, knowing that Iran takes such actions very personally. So he has pushed Iran into escalation, which must be accomplished before the election or they might lose the chance to humiliate Trump back.

I wonder how Liz would deal with their retaliation. It's supposed to happen in the US.

 

People who value peace must view this as a serious situation. As you say, Trump has pushed us and Iran into a situation of mutual escalation. Where will it end? Nobody knows. Iran is not exactly a cream puff in terms of military capabilities, although no match for the U.S.

Asking how Liz or the Bern would deal with retaliation is useful. Who says it's supposed to happen in the U.S.? Wherever it happens, it would be helpful to have somebody in charge who understands world politics. I don't think that's them, but it certainly isn't Trump either. Trump has replaced most of his competent advisors with temps and sycophants, and seems to be guided mainly by impulse. That's why we in big tubble! Anyone who thinks they'll "win" if Trump is re-elected might recall the 2004 election, which G.W. won handily, and continued four more years of mismanagement most of us would like to forget. But Trump makes me nostalgic for G.W.!

 

The thing that scares me most is Trump, who has the nuclear codes and (like his MAGA-hatted followers) the mentality of a six year old. Hiding under the bed won't cut it. Turning out for the election might!

I just saw a report on my Telly which said the Joint Chiefs were shocked and amazed by Trump's order to kill the Iranian General.

 

He has said he voted for trump. Furthermore he is a resident of Georgia and ex military = he likes trump.

You have it backwards. NK is far more of a nuclear threat than Iran.

1 hour till polling ends. Yang has to poll at 5% in 3 early voting states to qualify for next week's debates. So far, he is at 5% in Iowa, and I predict he will get 5% in NH without breaking a sweat. But that's only 2 outta 3. He needs a miracle in South Carolina or Nevada which isn't at all likely.

While Klobachar treds water with fewer national percentage points overall and Steyer keeps buying his way in with his own money, Andrew Yang is poised to miss his 1st debate ever.

But as my politically riled friend told me, "so what? They dont let him talk anyway"

I still say Iowa and NH is gonna tell a different story than what current polls are saying. Meanwhile me and Stacy are ignoring friends, lovers, alcohol, and music while at a party to see if Yang can limp across the finish line by midnight east coast time

 

I hope Bernie does well in the coming debate. He is polling well in Iowa.

 

Bernie is great in debates. Remember "Of course I know what's in it I wrote the damned bill". Pure gold. It's why I liked him in the last election.
