Hey, the U.S. political system--the Senate, the Electoral College, & al--is stacked in favor of the farmers, so neglect them at your peril. They're an important part of Trump's base: e.g., those Wisconsin dairy farmers, in a key battleground state, you're so fond of disparaging. Residents of rural American counties were critical in providing Trump'sl victory margins in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Iowa.https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...ncy-support-is-strong-but-not-monolithic/2017

Stay away from that theory. That's the dumbest of them all. Why would the leader of the free world be in the pocket of the leader of some quasi communist 2nd world country that can't pay its own workers?

And $400 million a year for anti Russian tank missiles to the Ukraine while he's supposedly in Putin's pocket

Trump supporters will claim that it's more evidence that Trump is an innocent victim.

Lev Parnas implicates Trump on the eve of Senate impeachment trial

    excerpts

"Lev Parnas, a key player in President Trump’s efforts to obtain a Ukrainian investigation of former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter, gave a bombshell interview to MSNBC Wednesday that undercut the president’s defense just hours before the Senate was scheduled to begin his impeachment trial.

“It was all about Joe Biden, Hunter Biden and also Rudy had a personal thing with the Manafort stuff,” Parnas said of the efforts to convince Ukraine’s government to announce an investigation of the Bidens, “but it was never about corruption, it was strictly about Burisma, which included Hunter Biden and Joe Biden.”"

"I don’t know those gentlemen,” Trump said in October about Parnas and Fruman, despite the fact that the men had been photographed together numerous times.

“He lied,” Parnas said, adding, “He knew exactly who we were.”"

  6. Love how Trump, Pence, Nunez, McCarthy, Barr, Giuliani, were all shown to be the liars they all are . All the Republican cockroaches are scrambling. . .. What a bunch of losers.. Americans have had enough of this circus act...they'll all be gone in November , as well as most of the Republican senators...
Then, it will take about ten years to clean up the mess that Trump and his Republican do nothing clones have created for our country.

That's the sad part. Even after the SOB dies, he will be remebered.

here is another theory. Does trump want Russia to annex Ukraine?
NATO would not like that, but trump doesn't care about NATO

Trump administration violated the law by withholding Ukraine aid, Government Accountability Office says
The government watchdog found that the money was withheld "for a policy reason, which is not permitted under the Impoundment Control Act."

Trump administration violated the law by withholding Ukraine aid, government watchdog finds

    excerpt:

"The Trump administration violated the law by withholding military aid to Ukraine, the U.S. Government Accountability Office said in a decision released Thursday.

"In the summer of 2019, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) withheld from obligation funds appropriated to the Department of Defense (DOD) for security assistance to Ukraine," the non-partisan government watchdog's ruling said.

"Faithful execution of the law does not permit the president to substitute his own policy priorities for those that Congress has enacted into law. OMB withheld funds for a policy reason, which is not permitted under the Impoundment Control Act (ICA). The withholding was not a programmatic delay. Therefore, we conclude that OMB violated the ICA.""

But when they got caught they released the aid, so it's okay... (Jim Jordan'ish mindset)

The 2016 Trump campaign targeted the swing states with significant electoral votes, making promises to each state: farmers in IA, OH, and WI; auto workers in MI and OH; steel workers in PA; coal miners in WV.

MI, PA, and WI are expected to be critical to his 2020 campaign which he won by very narrow margins in 2016.

Trump has to make the same promises to these states again after his lackluster delivery during his first term. He is already telling voters to put the Republicans back in control of the House in 2020 so that he can once again try to fulfill his 2016 promises that didn't materialize in his first term.

The more general promises he made to the entire country that require significant financial and legislative action didn't materialize, such as major infrastructure repair (the would-be tax money was expended on his corporate tax cut), inexpensive healthcare for all, tax reform, immigration reform, reducing the national debt and trade deficit (both have increased), improving education, and reducing student debt.

These are problems that require leadership and cooperation with Congress which require the governance expertise that he is lacking. This is in contrast to Trump's unilateral mode that includes executive orders, presidential memorandums, declaration of fake emergencies, political stunts, and twitter rants.

Trump didn't follow through on his fringe, cheerleader, dog bone promises, such as prosecuting Hillary (the investigation started by Sessions came up empty), finding the alleged 3 million illegal votes that supposedly went to Hillary instead of him (Trump's investigation group disbanded after yielding no results), his proposed outright ban on all Muslim travel to the U.S. (Trump watered it down twice heavily to avoid court injunctions), and making Mexico pay for his wall (the U.S. taxpayers are paying for it).

Trump shows that impeachment will not moderate him
    Analysis by Stephen Collinson, CNN

Donald Trump shows that impeachment will not moderate him - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"A week after a showdown with Iran nearly erupted into a new war in the Middle East, the administration is still defying congressional demands for more information about the rationale for killing Tehran's top general.

Tensions deepened after the administration abruptly canceled briefings on the situation, with little explanation, days after it was accused -- even by some Republicans -- of insulting lawmakers conducting oversight duties.

The Iran crisis has revealed Trump's belief that regular expectations of transparency and the need to explain grave decisions in a time of war do not apply to him. Last week, he told Fox News that he did not think Americans had a right to know the specific targets that the White House says were sized up by the dead Gen. Qasem Soleimani.

Trump also shocked Washington when he said that four US embassies were in the firing line but has presented no intelligence to back up the remark."

Kellyanne Conway Melts Down Under Grilling by Fox News

    excerpt:

"As she continued to filibuster, Hemmer interrupted her. “But back on Parnas, cut through it: Is he lying or not, Kellyanne?”

“He’s a proven liar, he’s been indicted,” she answered, again without addressing the specific claims about Trump.

Moments later, Hemmer’s co-host Sandra Smith jumped in as well. “Just to finish on that point, it’s a yes or no question,” she said. “‘Trump knew exactly what was going on,’ said Lev Parnas and we’re asking is that statement true or false.”

“Trump knew what was going on how?” Conway said, answering the true or false question with a question of her own. “In other words, what is Lev Parnas actually saying?”"
