Doh! Hey, it only took you two hours. And other people posting about it before it clicked. That explains why he doesn't have unanimous support. And don't ask me to explain... ponder on it for a couple hours!

Wonderful, wonderful... clearly as a rat trying to teach a hawk how to fly.

    - Check the economy. Wages. Joblessness. Production. Innovation. World position.

    - Alan Dershowitz
    - World respect

    - it's about time!!! Besides a booming economy creating more jobs than people to fill them, poverty begetting poverty needs to stop! We need to require people to pull their weight. And when they realize they can contribute to society (instead of draining it) they will gain self-esteem. And their kids will be more apt to learn to work instead of signing up for handouts. The do-gooders created a huge mess with this welfare lunacy decades ago - it's incredibly stupid and needs to get weaned off. Everyone needs to contribute something (within their abilities) and feel proud to. I'm all for helping people when they're down and out, get em back up on their feet, but this welfare lifestyle has got to go the way of the dinosaur.

    - when you have people whose core beliefs about who should live and who should die are at polar opposites, then damn right, discrimination is a requirement for survival. Yo? Should chickens invite foxes into the henhouse? Maybe that's such a toughie for those who have only lived in a city and never experienced farm life. But people who don't understand the president's policy would do themselves a favor by expanding their knowledge base. Meanwhile, the country can't listen to the inadequately informed positions lest it lose the gains it has achieved. We need to cut the BS and move forward if we are to have hope of surviving. And thriving!

That Republican governor tried what you wish to impose on other citizens and he got the boot from the people of Kentucky. Now Kentucky is not longer a RED state. Same goes for Virginia. Smerconish just held a poll/survey of people who responded to Lamar Alexander's explanation concerning his vote to block witnesses during Trump's removal trial. Near 90 percent said they disagreed with Alexander. Early voting starts in September and October depending on where you live..

Dude, I live in Kentucky. This is one of the reddest of the red states. Bevin lost because he was unpopular with Republicans and that's the only reason. The Republicans easily won every other state office on the ballot. In addition they have super majorities in both house of the General Assembly.

The mystery is that he has any support. One born every minute! Trump goosed the economy with his tax cuts, borrow and spend policies, and dismantling of environmental regs, and he got it up to 3% for awhile, but not the sustained growth he and Mnuchin promised. The current GDP growth rate is about 2.1% (last quarter of 2019). Wealthy Americans have been the main beneficiaries. Economies are a result of many variables, of which the occupant of the Oval Office is only one. For example, just yesterday the Dow lost over 600 points because of concerns over the corona virus.

My concern is that if Trump wins a second term, he'll be emboldened to resume his aggressive trade war with China. Every time that happens, our farmers suffer and the stock market sinks like a stone. And the economy isn't everything. Trump's assault on the rule of law, his pathological lying, and reckless, vindictive temperament should concern any reasonable person. He's trashed our intelligence services, staffed the foreign policy and national security apparatus with a bunch of sychophant temps, and packed the courts with unqualified ideologues. Sooner or later a crisis will come, and that's what will be dealing with it.

Your recent posts remind me ever so much of the poor slobs who enrolled at Trump U in hopes that the great genius would share his secrets of success, only to find that it was a big scam. The secret of Trump's success is that he's a world class con man. Don't drink the kool aid--again!

  9. This is precisely the sort of attitude that led to his election in the first place; assuming a massive swath of Americans are all "ignorant" and having the nerve to boast that out at every event. It did wonders for Hillary. It's also the very opposite of what Tsun Zhu advised when dealing with opponents.

A better position would be one that recognizes the realities of the people you're talking about. Sure, labeling them all as dribbling retards makes people feel better, but otherwise it just emboldens the target of this disdain. The "deplorable" Americans in Hillary's view.

What do you suppose the Clintons are doing right now?
Bill: On Go ogle scanning for porn
Hillary: Ordering scotch and more Mao-esque smocks.
    Chelsea: Making Putin finger puppets
Marc: Capitalizing on family ties for insider deals

And the Trumps (to be fair and unbalanced):
    Trump: Interviewing ticket scalpers
Melania: Getting botox, for her ankles
Ivanka: Failing Hebrew classes, and Yaelling about it
Jared: Capitalizing on family ties for insider deals

The Myth of the Rational Voter
Tacticallly, you're correct. But it's still true about a large swath of the Trump base. And ignorance, while dangerous, isn't necessarily stupid. In public choice theory, rational ignorance is the "Deliberate choice of a person not to acquire (not to pay attention to) a certain kind of information because of its cost in terms of time and effort that yields little or no benefit." What is rational ignorance? definition and meaning I had a bunch of my MAGA buddies over the other night and got into a great discussion. They're pretty smart guys, but pride themselves in not following the news regularly--least of all something like the impeachment hearings, which they think would be a colossal waste of their time. (In all honesty, I can only handle those in small doses--a few minutes at a time). They intuitively dislike government and think politics is generally a waste of time they could be spending on more rewarding activities. In fact, most are rationally irrational, in economist Bryan Caplan's sense of believing in something and thinking the belief is rational despite a preponderance of evidence that it's not. It's an existential choice.

    Rational Irrationality
    What Is Rational Irrationality?
Of course, it's not just Trump voters who belong in that category. Democrats (at least certain types of them) can be guilty of it, as well. A good deal of political and religious behavior can be explained by rational ignorance and rational irrationality. Bryan Caplan, The Myth of the Rational Voter. The Myth of the Rational Voter
Most of Trumps' base will stick with him until the economy goes sour (which it eventually will) or World War III breaks out (which could happen, but even then they'll rally round the Chief unless the U.S. loses). And what about democracy and the rule of law, peace, justice, etc.? Those are just slogans and abstractions that busy, rationally irrational folks aren't concerned about.

  11. I agree a recession is on the way, not that the president has ever been able to do a thing about it when it does arrive. Sure there are bandages that can be applied like Bush's $500 family tax refund after 9/11 (which he knew was on the way, Clinton warned him, but he just let it happen) or Obama's Cash for Clunkers program to lessen the impact of the bailout gifted to the automotive industry.

I don't find anyone's WW3 scenario credible these days. All of them are modeled after the 20th century world wars and it's unlikely we'll ever see that sort of warfare again. So the causes of a global conflict will have to be substantially greater than an assassinated leader. A full shooting war, after decades of practice with proxy wars, is unlikely. Consider that chemical and biological weapons could easily eclipse all of the wars humanity has engaged over the years. And they can be delivered via FedEx!

What's likely is more electronic and economic warfare. Customs recently intercepted a shipment of thousands of live, invasive crabs from China. If they had gotten loose, estuaries all over the US would be devastated. A lot of the US population is surrounded by trees, so an aggressive wildfire setting campaign could cripple the country long enough for the economy to be drained for years.

Hillary was not elected because of democrats. . . . . . . Who stayed home.
Ignorance= under educated, imo. You can deny that the majority of trump voters are under educated, but it doesn't make it so.
Trump became a republican because the dems saw thru his scam, and they would never vote for him. The trump voters believe everything he says. Everything is black and white to them. Never questioning what he says.

  13. He became a republican because they would be the easiest for him to defeat first. The democrats were always his primary target. They were the only ones making a play that would have a direct effect on his fortune and way of life.

As for black and white, that's the precise position you're taking with the assumptions you make about voters en masse. Have there been any sort of studies on the stupidity of Trump supporters that aren't biased heavily by the leftists who present them? I doubt it.

True. I live in Indiana, also Red. But, I saw a big shift in KY because Beshear is so popular.

  15. I have a feeling that the Democrats were pretty nasty towards him and made him leave.
All i know is that Trump is a narcissistic idiot who only cares about himself

Beshear only won by 5,000 votes...that's less than 0.5% of votes cast. Like I said the reason Bevin lost is because Republicans hated him.

  19. Oh please keep sharing that idea. There's just nothing like good clean politics. Which is why Trump will win easily in November. What so many leftists just don't seem to get is that he's selling a compelling message. While it doesn't tickle their fancy, it does resonate with the majority of the nations counties. And with those the various states are carried.

One way to know for sure someone is bullshitting you is when they say it's for "free".

  20. I don't have to do a lot of research on him because by reading his tweets on twitter i know he is a dickhead that needs to pull his head in and be real about everything.
Instead everything comes across as though he's scripting and is obsessed about his own self importance.
Kind of reminds me of Margaret Court who is an Australian tennis legend.
Nobody likes her because she's an bigotted judgemental bitch.
