Do you know what a bot is? How they work? What type of bot are you talking about?

Do you think Hillary understands exactly how bots work when she implies Gabbard is being helped by then? Or it's just a lame shock tactic.

12 Russians indicted that they know they are never going to be able to interview let alone question under oath. Hell they don't even know if they exist.

And sites? What Russian sites are exactly going to influence a foreign election....any more than any biased media outlets in any other country might.

There's nothing factual about it until those 12 Russians are brought to trial, and even then, how much of an impact could that impact possibly have.

You've just heard the same lie so many times, and you want to believe it, that you now think it's fact.

I am a foreign entity, I have been influencing American politics through this site for years, there would be millions other foreign nationals giving their opinions thus influencing the next election on other parts of the web. Mueller didn't indict any of us

The idea that 12 Russians in a basement in the Kremlin posting ads on Facebook is going to have anything more than a miniscule effect on an election is the dumbest thing I have heard in the last 3 years

Isn't a far simply explanation that Mueller, after 2 years of not finding anything indicted a bunch of Russians so it looks like he actually did something

  3. Exactly. But I still think our government is badly managed and shouldn't be trusted to own healthcare. In fact, I'd like to see more of them removed from it. Everything the government touches becomes more expensive and less effective.

However, I don't see that as a systemic failure. I see it as a failure of the people who have been running the government for the last few decades. So many cans have been kicked down the road we need a recycling plant to handle them.

That's kinda how I feel. Do we want a government medical program that's run like the VA? Fix government first, then we talk about giving it more power.

  5. The old ideas are failing them because Trump is not an actual republican. If he was, he'd have already capitulated when they started calling him racist and Hitler and such. REAL republicans know when to toss in the towel (like McCain in 2008 and Romney in 2012).

Republicans paved the way for Trump with their incompetence and fear of being called names. Democrats then made it easy for him by trying to use the same shit they used on the GOP, for decades. He's largely immune to typical republican fears.

For us it was 10 years of stuffing around then finally brought in by one of our most popular Prime Minister's

I just don't see how you guys are going to get Universal healthcare in until one party controls both the house and the Senate and that party is fully behind whoever the their leader that wants it in

    communism was pretty damn bad.
But it's just a bit absurd that there are older citizens who lived through communism in former soviet satellite countries who are on good terms with their universal healthcare programs while Americans who didnt live through it and have relied on second hand propaganda all these years are vehemently against programs that work in other countries.

I understand why they're like that but it doesnt make it less absurd.
I do think this country will see some transformative changes when the boomers die off, if the country lasts that long, but it's frustrating that younger people are basically being held hostage by misinformation and outdated views in the meantime

  9. Hell no, the VA is only "good" for veteran officers and higher non-coms. Regular enlisted vets get the worst from them, I know this personally.

I've experienced our government in many ways. I was a senate page as a teenager, then a Sea Cadet, then a sailor and then an inmate! At every level I have seen corruption, sure, but what's really demoralizing is all the apathy. Most of our government is run by the DMV (or so it seems).

Except the cops and jailers, they are run by thugs, psychopaths and control freaks. Most cops I encounter are arrogant bastards, proud to call themselves "The Law", but willing to bend it whenever their gut tells them their dealing with a "perp" who hasn't been caught yet (ie, most of us).

My dad was forever complaining about the VA. He was only a Vietnam veteran/draftee.

Yeah will definitely take a Democrat controlled congress and presidency as well as progressives winning more seats in congress

  14. In the 80s we joked that you'd go into the VA with a broken arm, and come out with a vasectomy. They were routinely in the news for medical fuckups back in the 80s and 90s. Now it's mostly covered up.

Not likely. There was once a time when the boomers were young leftist ideologues like you. They all got old and changed. As will the millenials.

  19. To make matters a little more muddy, there's Medicaid and Medicare.

Medicaid is public healthcare for the needy basically and Medicaid is for retirees.
Medicaid is a safety net program and Medicare was paid into by the recipients for most of their lives.

They really aren't even remotely similar, but both get dragged into these kinds of discussions. I personally think that safety net programs are important and will become moreso as we automate people out of jobs and move to universal fixed income (on the edge of poverty as is most government living).

Medicare is doing more for my father, a Nam vet with Agent Orange exposure (he mixed the stuff up ffs), than the VA ever did. The VA spent most of the 70s and 80s trying to dispel claims about agent orange. So vets suffered things like cancelled appointments for treatment, lost records, incorrect medications and a raft of other tactics to run the clock out, on their lives.

With such a glaring example of government abuse you'd think Americans would be skeptical about letting the government order bandages. But no, we're cool with government corruption, as long as it's "free"!
