Absolutely. Senate is already talking about investigations. It would dominate his campaign if he were nominated.

I dont think it's that though. I think it's just the fact that he doesnt have a whole lot to offer beyond name recognition and the Obama connection

Well, that and he doesnt perform well in debates and town halls

I think to older voters he may represent some kind of "normalcy" after the last 3 years. The other candidates represent the unknown.

Yeah! :) He struggles for words...

To his credit that doesn't mean he doesn't know what he should do though. But it sure looks... well, it looks like I would look on TV!

I absolutely will vote for him if he wins in the primaries, but I'm certainly holding out hope for Sanders. Goodness, anyone will do! :pensive:

It doesn’t help that he gaffs, stutters, talks nonsense, creeps on women, and has been seen talking in the wrong direction either

  9. Yes, that's exactly what we're seeing. Most of Washington, on both sides, prefers status quo and does their dogged best to drag everything along on the slowest track possible. And this is not a new phenomenon. Consider how long it took the US to retaliate against Japan in 1942. That mentality is still there.

Every time they try to do something fast, they fuck it up. Trump's impeachment is a prime example; another complete waste of time that only served to enrich a bunch of lawyers at the expense of the taxpayers AND the layabouts who depend on them.

So there's a strong desire to roll everything back to when times were "happier" (or at least seemed stable). Too bad it's completely impossible. Like it or not, you can't go back. You can't go home, it has changed and you won't recognize it anymore. Even the people are different.

Odd comparison. The US had the 28th biggest military at the time. We had to build up men and material before the invasion of Guadalcanal. You make it sound as if the US had the capability to be in Tokyo on Dec 8 1941 but chose not to because of some mentality that favored a slow response. I'm not sure where you're going with this

  14. But they in fact did have the means to attack. When they hit Tokyo, at long last, they didn't use any new technology or tactics. They wouldn't have attacked on the 8th because they were still putting out fires and hauling bodies out of Pearl Harbor. I was stationed there, some buildings still have bullet holes. The delay was Washington politics.

I don't live in the US, but even I know that the American navy sank a Japanese submarine in the entrace to Pearl Harbour either just prior to or immediately following the Japanese attack.

Ummm... they launched bombers from aircraft carriers which had literally never been done before :confused2:

  17. Indeed, but that was perfectly within the realm of capabilities. They used what they had on hand, though in an off-label manner. And of course they had no way to return to the carriers unless they ditched into the ocean. But by then the fleet was already heading away from them.

So that certainly qualifies as a new tactic. I wonder when the idea was first floated. That would give some clue about the lag time.

  18. Ok, this isn't a meme, it's a conspiracy theory. If true, it's badly timed, but this is all I can find on it at the moment......

When they say "teen" they don't differentiate juveniles. The photo looks like a yearbook shot. And the article is badly cut off, but the date puts him at 16. If that's the case, his record is sealed from this event. IF he actually did this, which I don't fully buy. The picture makes him look a little like Richard Ramirez!
