I think it would be cool if Pink Floyd’s ”Sheep” was what played at Bernie rallies.

Yeah, but what does Russia get out of it? They export more to Italy than US, shitload more to China

Think the whole Russian thing plays into the hands of those that remember the Cold war than younger folk, still have that mentality embedded

Or just the broader Russia fucks with a lot of countries just so Putin can maintain an image of having secret Police and make his domestic political opponents nervous and stay in power

Even if it is about making money in war zones , last time it was Trump vs Hillary if the assumption was Trump more likely to pull out of warzones. This time around, if its Bernie vs Trump, then it's the other way around Bernie would be the one Russian would assume is less likely to get involved in international confilcts

I think Russia gets another four years of a relatively sympathetic US president.

I was thinking the "American Woman" cover by Lenny Kravitz (originally by The Guess Who) for Elizabeth would be really cool. It would make her look super fly! :sunglasses: and I'm not making fun. She's cool in my book. :)

More and more I think the Democrats focusing so much on the Presidency is a mistake. Investing in ousting Mitch Mcconnell from the Senate would go a much longer way toward having a more effective federal government. I mean it’s no less doable than winning the White House.

Because if it's Bernie, Trump will be the lesser of two evils again ;)

Move along, nothing to see here now

  12. It's top-down thinking. For a long time that has worked, even in years when they didn't take the top seat. They still land in control of something. And control can be consolidated.

If the democrats are to survive I think they will have to seek to deliver real change on many issues such as the threat of Global warming to organized human life or even the threat of medical bankruptcy on the organized life of many working people. In comparison Trumps is a light weight, a buffoon who tweets allot and likes television. Rome had Nero among assorted mad emperors, they came then went yet the empire survived.

Many like Bernie Sanders boldness in bringing these issues to the fore and generating a social movement in the process that may propel him to the nomination despite and against the opposition of the establishment which will seek to deny him that nomination and the presidency. It will probably succeed despite all its miss steps and incompetence along the way giving Trump four more years. The recent elevation of Bloomberg with his billions looks and is reckless desperate and stupid while the whole mess in Iowa speaks for itself. Why would anyone vote democrat?

  15. All he had to do was keep his mouth shut. And he couldn't do that. He had to shower us all with his brilliance and intellect. I'm surprised he didn't wreck Obama's first campaign.

He's been telling a story about being arrested in South Africa on a trip to see Nelson Mandela, only no one else seems to know anything about it--including the US ambassador who accompanied Biden, Andrew Young.

"During recent campaign speeches, Biden says he 'had the great honor' of meeting Mandela and 'of being arrested with our U.N. ambassador on the streets of Soweto.' As Miami Herald reporter Alex Daugherty points out, Soweto is a ways away [900 miles] from Robben Island, where Mandela's maximum security prison was located.

"The arrest, which has seemingly only been brought up publicly by Biden in the last few weeks, was not found referenced anywhere by readily available news outlets, per the NY Times.

"The U.S. ambassador to the U.N. from 1977 to 1979 was Andrew Young. While Young reportedly acknowledged going to South Africa with Biden, he said he was never arrested in the country, and he told the Times he didn't think Biden had been arrested there either. 'I don't think there was ever a situation where congressmen were arrested in South Africa,' Young told the NY Times, although he did say some people were being arrested in Washington."

A recurring Biden campaign story about being arrested in South Africa is full of inconsistencies
I'm anxious to see how he explains this one away.

Yeah, so one of two things. He's either gone full Trump and just assumes he can flat out lie and it won't matter. Which if he wants that he's going to have to start lying much faster.

Or he's reached the age where he starts conflating his own life with things he's read or heard about, and soon it'll be he refused to get off his bus seat in Montgomery Alabama.

You think the Iowa Democratic party not knowing how to vet a mobile app would suddenly dissuade anyone from voting for a Democrat in 2020?

That's a weird damning by association. Doesn't really make sense.

It will be interesting to see who wins the democratic nomination. Is it all signs at this time point to Sanders? I hope he gets it, but I can't wait to see what happens with super Tuesday.
