Yeah, I'm no good at it either. I'm not Asian though. I don't really talk about my ethnicity. I've never discussed it here. I guess I'm not ready to come out of my anonymity-shell.

Free at point of service means taxpayer funded. The taxpayer funded is also implied. This is not a difficult concept

I dont mind paying taxes for things that benefit society.

    Very good point!

The struggle is half-over! How to convince others is my dilemma and the dilemma of others who see a future where we can change.

Having learned about better social structure in various courses, I think that taxation is a very organized and underrated ally. It's hard for some people to imagine a future where they don't have to worry about medical bills. At all. Or tuition. These are things that cost a few hundred dollars that you can otherwise spend on your gas and groceries, or whatever else isn't subsidized by tax revenue.

  7. Indeed. To what percentage? That's a serious matter in the American economy where it is not in all of the coddled Euro nations. We have to consider this seriously. We are NOT a European economy on this side of the planet.

I would suggest copying a Norway or like Iceland or somewhere they are successful.

But you're saying our economy won't work with that? I don't think that part will effect adjusted gross incomes. It's just the prices should remain relative to the global economy. What will happen is you'll see less money in your paycheck, but more free services; even more for free! If you were paying you would pay more than you lose in taxes in some cases.

I think that it would be let's say 3% for the lower end and like 20% for the high end, and I'm making these up; I don't have a clue how to set tax brackets. But you get the notion that there's more room to tax at the top than the bottom for sure. You don't wanna charge the same tax rate across the board, unless you want to base the whole thing (in fairness?) on the lowest income so that everyone can pay an equal amount. It's absurd! The rich can afford wayyy more. :)

    This debate is boring
Come on y'all, you're in SC tonight. Get the red out a little

So why not a flat tax rate with a generous standard deduction? It could be $50,000. Then, when we talk about raising the tax rate, everyone has a stake in it.

    That's fine.

I think what I want the most is doable with higher taxes though. So much higher that you don't have to save money for groceries because they're paid for. I don't know enough about adjusted gross income and a real living wage to really hash out exactly how much is reasonable, but I think someone somewhere must have the knowledge to make those calls.

Not so much that I suck at it as much as I just think it's boring. I did the bare minimum in school to get good grades but math was always my least favorite subject

I really wish it had been Yang instead of Buttigieg (if there was only room for one 30 something guy in the race). Yang has substance. Buttigieg is just smarmy and oily

This is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. I just saw this commercial on TV for a 2020 Battle For The White House commemorative chess set. The pieces are all politicians or supreme court justices. Pelosi, Pence and McConnell are pieces for example. They are riding elephants or donkeys. Who the fuck came up with this?

I wanna like Buttigieg. As a queer person I feel almost obligated to. How huge would it be to the LGBTQ community to have a gay president? But something about him irritates me. Like, if he came up to me at a party and started talking to me I'd be like, yo get this asshole away from me.

I don't have a horse in this race but I remember liking Tulsi Gabbard, for some reason. Because she's a surfer? Or a vet? Yeah, some reason.
