So... I'm concerned enough to have bought hand sanitizer for my car; there is already some in the kitchen. And I'm curious about it. I am interested enough to have googled around and thought "you know, biology may have some information" and so I found this:

It's really looking bad right now because there are cases with no source!

I hear it's longer than "a few months". I think I read somewhere that human testing will begin in a few months, but the vaccine won't be out for a year or eighteen months.

Hand sanitizer does not kill viruses, it only works against pathogenic bacteria.
The only everyday substance that kills a virus is mythelated spirit. The government are probably keeping quiet, to prevent the resultant fires from killing more people than the virus.
ORIGINAL Listerine has enough ethanol to kill viruses, so it might be an idea to keep some as a mouthwash if you come into contact with anyone showing flue symptoms.

 

About the only thing hand sanitizer does is weaken your immune system.

 

The same thing has just hit the news in the UK. People are pouring it down the sink and washing it away with bleach.

 

Because some people on here think that the deadly flu bug is the beer...
Maybe you should be looking at that. Instead of accusing me of abusing others. I know of at least 4 aussies who think the virus is a beer.

They're really pushing hygiene, hand-santizer, and washing your hands with hyper-regularity on the news though.

 

Flu bugs cannot be controlled by hand sanitisers.

I was wondering about North Korea.

 

A strong immune system needs exercise... (needs to be in a state of fighting stuff off.) If you constantly sanitize everything, your immune system gets weakened. You then get sick and die.... Well, almost die. or just get sick all the time... and wish you were dead.


A little "dirt" never hurt anyone. (people with immune disorders are not included in this statement)
