Trump opened his press conference on March 19 with "We continue our relentless effort to defeat the Chinese virus." His play book is to portray himself in a war with China and later proclaim victory over China. The virus might subside by the time of the Republican National Convention which is normally held during the summer, in time for him to declare victory and blame his botched and delayed response on Biden and Obama.
Trump hasn't had a victory over China with his trade war. The virus is a China-associated entity that can make him and his supporters perceive that he beat China.
Government response updates: Trump headed to FEMA amid hospital shortages, Pence says FEMA taking over response He said the FDA is fast-tracking a possible drug treatment. By Libby Cathey March 19, 2020, 12:52 PM Government response updates: Trump headed to FEMA amid hospital shortages, Pence says FEMA taking over response excerpt: "President Trump appeared once again at the daily briefing by the White House coronavirus task force and again blamed China. "We continue our relentless effort to defeat the Chinese virus," he said to open the news conference. "This is something that happened that was -- some people would say it's an act of God. I don't view it as an act of God. I would view it as something that adjusts the pride of the whole world. If people would have known about it, it could have been stopped in place. It could have been stopped right where it came from, China," Trump said. A closeup photo from Washington Post photographer Jabin Botsford of the president's briefing notes revealed in a section where the prepared remarks read, "Corona Virus," "Corona" was crossed out and "Chinese" was written in its place, in what appeared to be Trump’s handwriting." image: edited China virus
It looked and sounded like a campaign rally with his cheerleading squad around him and the usual China bashing.
Post of a blogger: Trump coronavirus quotes January 30: Trump on Coronavirus, “We have it very well under control, and I think it’s going to have a very good ending. So that I can assure you!” February 2: Trump on Coronavirus, “Well, we pretty much shut it down coming in from China, but we did shut it down!” February 10: On Fox News Trump says without evidence that the coronavirus "dies with the hotter weather… You know, a lot of people think that goes away in April with the heat.” February 24: "The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA.” February 25: Trump falsely claims “You may ask about the coronavirus, which is very well under control in our country. We have very few people with it, and the people that have it are … getting better. They’re ALL getting better!” February 26: Trump wrongly says the coronavirus "is a flu" and that “whatever happens, we’re totally prepared.” February 26: Trump baselessly predicts the number of US cases is "going very substantially down" to "close to zero” February 26: Trump wrongly says the flu death rate is "much higher" than Dr. Sanjay Gupta said. Coronavirus has 10X death rate compared to flu. If 60K die from flu then 600K will die from Coronavirus! February 27: Trump baselessly said, "It's going to disappear. One day -- it's like a miracle -- it will disappear.” February 28: Trump said at a rally, Coronavirus is “the new Democratic Hoax.” March 2: Trump falsely claims “nobody knew of the number of US flu deaths”. March 2: Trump says a vaccine is coming "relatively soon”. Only Trump did not bother to mention that CDC had told him earlier that day that a vaccine was a year to a year and a half away. March 4: Trump said he believes people infected with the novel coronavirus may get better "by sitting around and even going to work." March 5: Trump wrongly claims the virus only hit the US "three weeks ago”. Trump was informed of a confirmed case on January 21(6 weeks prior). March 5: World Health Organization (WHO), based on data collected around the world, stated the global mortality rate for coronavirus at 3.4%. Trump says: “I think the 3.4 % is really a false number, this is just my ‘Hunch’!” March 6: As the number of cases and deaths in Italy rises, Trump says “I hear the numbers getting much better in Italy.” March 6: Trump tells cameras, “Anybody who wants a test can get one.” VP Pence said the day prior that Americans could not get tested simply because they wanted to get tested. "You may not get a test unless a doctor or public health official prescribes a test." March 6: Trump muses that "maybe the coronavirus improved US jobs numbers.” March 6: "I like the numbers being where they are. I don't need to have the numbers double because of one ship," Trump said of passengers on the Grand Princess cruise ship. March 7: Trump said that doctors he's come across as the administration tries to get a handle on the outbreak have been surprised about how much he knows about COVID-19. "Maybe I have a natural ability," he said. "Maybe I should have done that instead of running for president." March 11: Trump’s Address from Oval Office wrongly states Insurance companies will pay for patients Coronavirus treatment. Next day Insurance Coalition corrected Trump and said they will pay ONLY for Co-payments, NOT treatment. March 13: Trump declares National Emergency. “As you know Europe was just designated as the hot spot right now, and we closed that border a while ago so that was lucky or through talent or through luck… call it whatever you want.” The travel ban had not even been implemented, scheduled to start that night. March 13: Asked why his Admin previously disbanded the national pandemic office which would have significantly prepared the United States, “When you say me, I didn’t do it. We have a group of people… You say we did that, but I don’t know anything about it.” This, after Trump’s presser from Feb. 26 where it was previously brought up and discussed with Trump. March 13: Backpedaling about whether or not he should get tested and self-isolate for Coronavirus after being in direct contact with those carrying the virus, “I asked them that same question, and they said, ‘You don’t have any symptoms whatsoever.’” You don’t have to be showing symptoms to already have the Coronavirus. March 13: Trump interacted with several top administration officials and business leaders during the address, shaking hands and patting them. March 13: Asked by a reporter about the federal failures to test for Coronavirus, Trump answered, “No I don’t take responsibility for that at all.” This, after he exclaimed on March 6 that tests were ready and everyone who wanted a test would be able to get a test. Notable Trump tweet from 2013: “Leadership: Whatever happens, you’re responsible. If it doesn’t happen, you’re responsible.”
All Trump needs now at his press briefings is his group around him raising their fists and chanting "USA! USA! USA!"
Trump started doing press briefings in the White House press room only after the coronavirus struck. Trump spoke like a true dictator by saying that he should get rid of all of the journalists at the briefing except two or three that he likes. Trump drops his coronavirus media detente Until Thursday, the president had remained mostly cordial with the press. By CAITLIN OPRYSKO 03/19/2020 03:19 PM EDT Trump drops his coronavirus media detente excerpt: "But pointing at the reporters in the room, Trump continued: “You’re actually sitting too close. We should probably get rid of another 75, 80 percent of you. I’ll have just two or three that I like in this room. I think that’s a great way of doing it. We figured a new way of doing it.” “But you’re actually much too close. You two,” Trump said, circling the air in the direction of the briefing room's front row, “should leave immediately.” White House news briefings, once a daily occurrence, had gone all but extinct in the Trump administration until the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic."
And our children and grand children can only eat some much macaroni and cheese. The Republicans want our children to be dependent on Factory Made Food. And they want us and our grand children to work without every having enough money to have our own home and without ever having the security of health care insurance. I remember Spiro Agnew and Richard Nixon running their mouth about socialism in the70s and Rush Lamebutt dishing similar Republican Jibberish during the Clinton years. Then we got the Tea Party to bitch about the Deep State and the socialism agenda, and they want to take your guns. Well, after 5 months we start early voting. And the majority of US want socialism now! Socialism works great for public health care, public housing, public education, public transportation, and public care of our public owned lands.
Apparently unaware that the whole thing bore an uncanny resemblance to "Crimson Contagion"--a simulation exercise engaged in by his own Department of Health and Human Services last January-August--a classic case of life imitating fiction. Before Virus Outbreak, a Cascade of Warnings Went Unheeded
5:27 amMarch 20, 2020 Trump considering "repercussions" for China's handling of virus Megan Palin US President Donald Trump said he is considering “repercussions” for the Chinese government’s handling of coronavirus, after days of placing the blame for the spread of the virus on the country. “It would have been much better if we had known about this a number of months earlier,” he said at a news conference Thursday. “It could have been contained to that one area in China where it started. And certainly the world is paying a big price for what they did.” Yeah, here fuckin here! Donald J +1 on the Donald Trump Scorecard
Lolz lolz lolz Take the $1000 but whinge about how much it costs You and your little like buddies lining up on the white house lawn, grabbing your ankles $1000 ooh yes please Donald Just remember, when you take that $1000, Stormy Daniels got 60 times that amount .....then later had to pay his legal fees and give back 300 times that amount, but still
Trump introduces one of his new TV stars. Trump’s new public health 'star' Surgeon General Jerome Adams wins president’s praise by amplifying his message, even as it changes. By DAN DIAMOND 03/20/2020 04:30 AM EDT Trump’s new public health 'star' excerpt: "Now a regular on Fox News and other programs, Adams routinely flanks President Donald Trump at news briefings and has amplified the White House’s line as it shifted from reassuring to more severe. “We’ve created a number of new stars, including the gentleman right behind me,” Trump said on March 14 at a White House news conference, turning to Adams. “I watched him the other day. It was such a fantastic job you did, and I really appreciate it.”"
Trump’s new public health 'star' excerpt: "Lessons from an Indiana outbreak Adams first came to national prominence when then-Indiana Gov. Pence tapped him in 2014 to be the state’s health commissioner. The two men soon worked closely together to tackle Indiana’s 2014-2015 HIV outbreak, which was among the nation’s worst in years — and was compounded by Pence’s decision not to take swift action. The issue was further complicated because the HIV outbreak was most severe among people who injected drugs, and Adams had to overcome opposition, including from Pence, to begin a needle-exchange program that has since been credited with helping contain the disease. “It's not always possible to get people to do what you think needs to be done by telling them what you think needs to be done,” said Joan Duwve, who served as Indiana’s chief medical officer and worked under Adams during the HIV outbreak. “I think that's probably where we were in the state of Indiana. … Jerome facilitated the necessary dialogue.”"
