Quarantining Trump and his mouth for a few weeks would give everyone some relief.

Who makes the food and drugs?
Where do the trucks get fuel and repairs, who maintains the grid, etc.?

Trump sends letter to North Korea offering help amid coronavirus pandemic

    https://nypost.com/2020/03/21/trump...orea-offering-help-amid-coronavirus-pandemic/

    excerpt:

"Trump “expressed his intent to render cooperation in the anti-epidemic work” in a recent letter to Kim Jong Un, said the news agency on Saturday, although the report did not make clear when the letter was sent.

News of the letter came Saturday after the country had fired two projectiles that appeared to be short-range ballistic missiles into the sea off the country’s east coast, according to reports from South Korean military.

Last week, the country declared that it had conquered coronavirus and did not have a single case despite the country sharing borders with China and South Korea, among the worst hit countries in the world."

Gotta wonder if Trump sent the letter offering help to N. Korea before he begrudgingly offered help to the United States.

Trump seems to like white supremacists as much as he does dictator Kim Jong-un. Trump could also send a letter of support to them in their efforts with the corona virus like he did to Kim Jong-un.

Federal law enforcement document reveals white supremacists discussed using coronavirus as a bioweapon

    excerpt:

"The intelligence brief, marked for official use only, noted the white supremacists “suggested targeting … law enforcement and minority communities, with some mention of public places in general.” According to the document, the extremists discussed a number of methods for coronavirus attacks, such spending time in public with perceived enemies, leaving “saliva on door handles” at local FBI offices, spitting on elevator buttons and spreading coronavirus germs in “nonwhite neighborhoods.”

The February document appears to show that at least some white nationalists were already taking the threat of the coronavirus seriously at a time when some in government were downplaying the threat. On Feb. 26, President Trump said that he expected the cases to go down to zero in the United States in “a couple of days.” The Washington Post reported on Friday that intelligence agencies were issuing “ominous” warnings about the virus in January and February."

Trump poses, while these governors actually lead
Opinion by Julian Zelizer, CNN Political Analyst

Trump poses, while these governors actually lead (opinion) - CNN

    excerpt:

"When the president fails America, we often turn to state governors in a desperate search for leadership.

This is what happened at the start of the Great Depression. When President Herbert Hoover failed to adequately acknowledge and confront the crisis, Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was then the governor of New York, took aggressive steps at the state level, setting up an emergency relief program, for example, to help the unemployed.

This is exactly what is happening now. Millions of Americans have already upended their lives. While the coronavirus pandemic claims an increasing number of lives and cripples our economy, President Donald Trump continues to spread disinformation and attack the press, which is working to get accurate, timely information to the public.

For those who were hoping Trump might rise to the occasion, it's likely that turning point may never come. Fortunately for the country, others are stepping in to fill the void.

We have seen strong examples of leadership from governors of both parties. Despite their flaws, a number of them have shined by making bold decisions, however unpopular they may be."

    Post of a blogger:

"How Trump would have responded during WWII:

"I'm the war-time President, but you governors/mayors will have to shop around & see if you can find any tanks, missiles, spare jet planes that can be converted to figher planes, ammunition.... Remember I did stop all travel from Germany & Japan."

"Oh, & try to put together some MASH units."

"Meanwhile I'll have daily briefings so I can whine about how misunderstood I am by the media.""

Trump’s Tariffs Leave the U.S. Short on Vital Medical Supplies
From gloves to respirators, protectionism is raising costs for the providers fighting the coronavirus.
    By Robert B. Zoellick

Opinion | Trump’s Tariffs Leave the U.S. Short on Vital Medical Supplies

    excerpt:

"U.S. medical distributors are busy hunting for alternative producers and testing their equipment for interoperability when they should be concentrating on getting supplies to those in need. China, in turn, has diverted its sales to other markets. After President Trump hit Chinese medical suppliers with a 25% tariff in 2018, China’s exports to the U.S. dropped by 16%. In some cases, American users had no good alternatives because suppliers must get certified by the Food and Drug Administration, which can take more than two years. U.S. medical-equipment producers have also been plagued by the president’s new tariffs on imported components.

Mexico ranks second to China in supplying protective medical equipment to the U.S. But Mr. Trump’s erratic threats have helped undermine confidence in building that country’s industries for export."

With all these lock downs around the world, it's obvious not one single government had a contingency plan for this type of scenario

Can any of you find any of these plans that are more describe that "everything but essential services shut"

What "Essential services" are seemingly to be determined by beat cops and grunts in their respective military

Do any of them have any plan after that?

How the Coronavirus Shattered Trump’s Serene Confidence
COVID-19 is unimpressed and unimpeded by the President’s bluster. And the prolonged process of his humbling has put untold numbers of Americans at risk.

How the Coronavirus Shattered Trump’s Serene Confidence

    excerpt:

"Early last week, the Trump era—which defined itself by a lurid celebration of “alternative facts,” a contempt for science, and an assault on global institutions and the “administrative state”—came to an end. Regrettably, Donald Trump remains in office, but, at least for the moment, he appears to have ceded the argument: he cannot bend the harshest realities of the world to his fantasies. The aggressive and deadly coronavirus is unimpressed and unimpeded by the bluster of a con. Yet the prolonged process of Trump’s humbling, the time it took him to recognize the power of the global pandemic that has emptied our streets, has put untold numbers of Americans at risk.

The disease now known as COVID-19 was first identified three months ago, in the Chinese city of Wuhan. Much like SARS, which flared eighteen years ago, the likeliest breeding ground for the new coronavirus was a live-animal market. Like SARS, H.I.V., and Ebola, COVID-19, scientists believe, is a zoonotic disease, one that “jumps” from mammalian animal hosts to human beings. The coronavirus that causes COVID-19 soon made its way to nearly every corner and crevice of the planet.

For many weeks, the President resisted understanding the magnitude of the problems and the responsibilities of his office. In late January, he declared, “We have it totally under control. . . . It’s going to be just fine.” A month later, he told attendees at a White House celebration of Black History Month, “One day—it’s like a miracle—it will disappear.” Was he doing a good job? He gave himself “a ten.” Those who raised concerns about the Administration’s cuts in emergency preparedness or the outrageous failure to supply testing kits were promulgating “a hoax.”"
