If you're talking about the 2009 H1N1 Swine Flu, I beg to differ. H1N1 didn't cause anything like the disruption of COVID-19.

contrary to what trump says, I think he wants this to last a little longer. Maybe until July, and if the curve is flattened by then, he can say see what I did for you. He will beat that drum until the election, and hope it works.

Such an insightful analysis. Really highlights the depth of your thinking: Orange Man Bad. So glad you shared your deep thinking.

Meanwhile, someone who might have a pretty good idea what he's talking about, Anthony Fauci, has this to say: https://gellerreport.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Fauci_NEJM_COVID.pdf

“In another article in the Journal, Guan et al. report mortality of 1.4% among 1099 patients with laboratory-confirmed Covid-19; these patients had a wide spectrum of disease severity, If one assumes that the number of asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic cases is several times as high as the number of reported cases, the case fatality rate may be considerably less than 1%.

This suggests that the overall clinical consequences of Covid-19 may ultimately be more akin to those of a severe seasonal influenza (which has a case fatality rate of approximately 0.1%) or a pandemic influenza (similar to those in 1957 and 1968) rather than a disease similar to SARS or MERS, which had case fatality rates of 9 to 10% and 36% respectively.”

So we're going to shut down the economy for "a severe seasonal influenza"? Clearly this is a pretty serious health threat, particularly until vaccines are developed (by evil pharma companies, of course- Bernie Sanders would be ever so much more helpful) and treatment protocols established. But as many people who will suffer from it, I suspect most people will be challenged by this CCP virus, so the best we can do at this time is to slow its spread. I remain unconvinced that shuttering the economy, assuming enormous debt in the process, is the way to go.

Golly, if I didn't know the purity of the motives on the part of politicians- particularly Democrats who have made it clear that "Trump needs to do more, faster", I might even be tempted to think that they might be trying to expand the reach of government.

I won't link it because it has a pay wall, but the NY Times has an article on how the evangelicals are responsible for the slow response to combatting the virus.

  11. I just spewed Pepsi from my nose on that one.

It blows my mind how many people have been programmed to "hate" Trump and in such short order. I admit, I hate the Clintons, but I learned to over decades, on my own. I never had any media telling me they were hate-worthy. They didn't have to. Watching the media factionalize, primarily for various left-leaning concerns, wasn't a factor. I learned to hate the Clintons organically.

And while I don't hate Trump, I've also had decades to get used to disliking his privileged, arrogant demeanor. BUT, unlike the Clintons, Trump doesn't seem to have bodies in the closet (although I fully expect him to be blamed for every Corona death, even the bat)! The daily claims of his "racism" have also left me flat as has the supposed rebirth of American White Supremacy. It's weird how so many are so easily conned by electronic screen art.

The latest Tw!tter Trump slam from Hillary is mocking the situation horribly. She's making fun of the situation by saying "He did promise America first".

What a hideous troll she is.

  12. It's like we're being asked not to care for people for the sake of the economy, which we all know is there to feed off our labor and make institutions like big pharma rich. Who's panicking?

Panicking isn't staying home. It's going back to work and spreading the virus like an idiot, with complete disregard for who suffers. Clearly, this is a sick society.

Yeah.... Nah, I've always said Trump was a fucking moron. Has nothing to do with him being president.

Other than the fact that you guys elected a fucking moron for president.

  14. We've sunk below intelligence to mindless confidence, hence Trump. But the same goes for others, like Biden. In the quest to be practical we've become idiots.

  15. Consider the choice we had. If we had elected Hillary, we'd still have flights from China landing in our population centers.

I am curious though; what qualifies you to call the guy who beat both US parties in a most humiliating and fully-exposed way, a "moron"?
