I think it's a bit naive for them to not practice social distancing but I think it's much more naive and insidious to want martial law.

 

Ahh, but there isn't just two alternatives

In order for Plan A to work you have to hope that after a month or two the virus just pretty much disappears...somehow

It's worked in eastern China so far, maybe

But they are out of their winter and still have their borders closed

Plan A means we also have to keep our borders closed to anyone that may visit a country that hasn't contained it

 

Maybe it didn't happen where you were, but I saw people toting weapons making it about more than just stay-at-home. I saw people hanging out of vehicles like they're piloting their way out of an apocalyptic nightmare; not only an exaggeration but also fostering panic with a blatant disregard for any regulation, let alone the social distancing recommendations.

I don't know that I would describe them as naive for doing what they've done/are doing. Malicious? Vindictive? I don't know, but I definitely feel that a government response is wholly and fully appropriate. I'm sorry we don't agree.

They have been in lockdown 6 weeks, supposedly, so where are all these new cases coming from, those 454 new deaths, they would have contracted the virus a couple weeks ago, when the country had been in lock down for a month

yea... and they had a stringent lockdown from what I understand, which is what, I'm assuming, soldiers are doing in Milan. In theory, the disease ought to taper off as people recover and become non-contagious. It should cease to spread further after that... i don't get it either.

 

My best guesses... they are neglecting other causes of death or COVID-19 is pure magic and defies biology and physics.
