I’m not one of those people who volunteered to lock myself in.

I’m still going to work, running errands, going on road trips, and enjoying life.

i don't know that obeying the law really counts as volunteering.

i'm still doing those things too (minus the road trips, since there's nowhere to go without risking legal consequences). i would gladly volunteer to lock myself in for a while if it meant some time off from work.

A lot of people who should know better apparently don’t. Next time you see a pollen grain, think of an object 10 to 100 times smaller, packed with reproductive material and ready to turn your lung cells into replicating zombies. Not good. The lockdowns and social distancing guides are the only way to keep those little bastard viruses from infecting you families, your friends and the kindly lady down the street. People who ignore the lockdown are cruelly putting others at risk. Nobody likes the isolation but right now it’s the only weapon. The guides are designed to keep social interaction to the minimum except for essential goods and services. We had some of those ignorati in Olympia at the State Capitol protesting and having a group grope with no protection or attempt to keep distances. Those red hats and “don’t tread on me signs” are not going to stop the viruses nor will platitudes for Trump. In about 10 or so days we will see a spike in cases among attendees at the rally. Come on people there really is a community interest here that supersedes your trip to the pub or a shopping trip for new duds.

They have a similar approach to America maybe a bit looser. And in both countries are the numbers going up or down? Neither country is close to what others are doing.

I do find it funny that the socialist country that is "full of Muslims" is in the minds of Trump voters getting more rights at the current time than what their ar-15's and begging their masters to go back work gets. Maybe America is not so great after all.

Based on UK lockdown rules - what you can and cannot do in self-isolation, the US is on par with its lockdown. All non-essential stores are closed. A minimum of 6 ft for social distancing. Shelter at Home means one can go grocery shopping, or attend only necessary appointments. No visitors in hospitals. All schools and churches closed. No groups of people larger than 10 is allowed to assemble. People in some states are being ticketed, and/or fined, for not following their states lockdown rules. Each state's rules are handed down by their governor, so some states may have stricter mandates than the one I live in.

People are begging to go back to work because they are starving and broke. The vast majority of people are not bitching about how the lockdown infringes on their rights. Those that are would bitch about anything, and often do. We tend to ignore them.

It all depends on how he exactly does it. But at first instance he does seem a bit proud to defy the safety measures ment in order to minimize risk for his fellow citizens

I got a part time side gig delivering food and medicine to people in need. I’m more essential than a politician at this point

The lockdown may appear necessary at first, but if it s lasting too long it can trigger riots, because people are not naturally made to be in lockdowns and need to look for the essentials of life, and then find money for them..This virus will stay around, most people are definitely going to catch it, lockdown or not, as other viruses or sicknesses.
Maybe a modulated lockdown could be organised for the most vulnerable to it..

An update on this, At the end of May 5th, Sweden's death toll stands at 2854, took 18 days to double

So why the anti-sweden propaganda such as you listed?

India: 1693 deaths, took them a whole month to go from 100 deaths to 1693. A country where social distancing is impossible

How much longer are we going to play the denial game?

The same people who’ve been demonizing Wal Mart for the last 20 years for shutting down small businesses are the same people who are the loudest in supporting gov't orders that shut down mom & pop shops forcing everyone to shop at Walmart.

Just goes to show how People like you who eat the media’s propaganda, believed that Ma & Pa stores were “non-essential” this whole time

Well, as a matter of fact I'm a long time Walmart booster. I credit Walmart and McDonalds, more specifically, McDonald's in Walmart, with saving my marriage. Surrounded by four kids, with four years between youngest and oldest, my wife and I found it difficult to work out the problems of everyday life without an audience. So we developed the Walmart-McDonalds date. And eventually discovered we had no further differences to talk about, and just hung out. Cheap date. As for Mom & Pop, they have to be adaptive. When Lowe's moved into town, a mom and pop hardware store underwent a metamorphosis into a boutique specializing in fine china, linens, etc., and seems to be doing well. The virus is particularly hard on marginal "non-essential" businesses, but much as I like Mom and Pop, letting them do business as usual and spread the virus doesn't seem like a good idea. The "essentialness" of their nature and the danger of the virus are separate issues from their being mom and pop.

Why do you think every essential worker didn't get Covid in the last two months?

Their lives didn't change that much, the number of people they passed within 6 feet of didn't change that much, especially supermarket workers

It's been right in front of your face the whole time.

If infectious enough to require 50-80% of the population to stay inside their house. Then every bus driver, taxi driver, supermarket worker etc should have got Covid by now.

I've spent the last two months catching the train to the city and back in carriages 2/3 full of mostly construction workers, most of whom weren't even bothering with face masks, none bothering with gloves...to come home and listen to the news lifestyle shows telling you how to turn you living room into a home gym and tips to bake your own bread

It's been bizarre. Hell even most doctors and nurses didn't get covid

Now everybody is in pretending they haven't been a complete chump the last 2 months mode

If everybody else wore facemasks and gloves, we certainly didn't need to shut down anything. Not that they themselves are all that useful. A Covid map of any country should tell you it's all about prolonged exposure.

If we were really serious about all the deaths in nursing homes we should have locked down the staff inside those homes along with the "inmates", paid them extra, delivered to them everything they need

And the transmission probability is a lot higher when you lock down families together

I can't believe how much of the world has been buying into this shit. Sheeple indeed
