But the far majority of young people are not at risk so the species as a whole isn't neither. That doesn't change the reasons to decrease the spreading of course.

I said you were arrogant for stating that everyone agrees with you.

Don't see how anything I said is "quaint". As with "nuance" I'm interested in your understanding of the word. And I wasn't just trying to be a dick, I was genuinely interested. But you just "liked" the post and didn't explain.

If you were certain about the fatality rate, it's just araithmetic. 325 million Americans. If fatality rate is 1%, and it takes 60% to get to herd immunity, that's 1,950,000. If it's .1% 195,000.

As I said... That would depend on how it mutates.

Acknowledged. So its a theoretical possibility. Not likely or 'highly possible'.

Now in that specific example, exactly like the flu.

To nuance = to narrow it down precisely.

    A nuance:
A dictionary definition that puts it how i mean it:
"A subtle difference or distinction in expression , meaning, response, etc.". So in my case in meaning.

One distinctive difference covid19 seems to have is that the flu easily spreads through kids, and covid19 far less.

Of course kids are getting it at the same rate as the normal population. They just suffer far more likelyhood of being asymptomatic.

Insights on to what extent kids transfer it seems to differ. In my country for example the current conclusion is that kids do not only suffer far less from it, its also determined they are rarely the 'source patient', meaning that in a family or living situation where a group of people living together in one house the kids were rarely the ones infecting the adults, more often the other way around.

Coronavirus: Steven Mnuchin says economy will rebound over the summer

This is good news, however it's contradictory to what has been previously cited by other sources (which I can't remember; old articles...).

What I initially read and understood was that the fallout from coronavirus i.e. shutting down was going to be worse. Four times worse! So saying "this is not the financial crisis" sounds especially optimistic.

    Let's hope he's right.

Europe restarts car factories amid virus

"German car-making giant Volkswagen has resumed production at its biggest factory as part of a broader industry drive to get back to work in Europe, where the coronavirus pandemic has hammered demand and pushed up inventory levels.

Encouraged by a fall in infection rates, Germany has eased lockdown rules and car makers are relying on the country's ability to trace and contain new coronavirus cases to safely restore operations in Europe's largest economy."

Come on, it's not like someone in that position is going to say - Oh, we are so fucked, you all should completely panic - anyway

You also don't need a guy like that to tell you that if someone works throughout this they will be better off than those that are unemployed, max out their credit cards, then get evicted when the law allows

I am hoping it teaches us all to spread out though after this into smaller cities, not these Gargantuan megacities

maybe they base the 60% off of a sine wave , as you near the top it starts to level off , we need to see that chart
