Trump's Response to COVID-19

Discussion in 'Politicians' started by walkoflife, Mar 18, 2020.

  1. I used to say that Biden was the democrats' only viable candidate. Instead of rallying behind him, the democrats have done their best to tear him down. So I'm not shocked that Trump will likely win 2020. It's being handed to him like a gift from the democrats. And most of their base is fractured but positive that Trump is too "stupid" to win again. It's weird to watch this all happen again.

Wishful thinking on your part, perhaps even delusional.

You remind me of trump when he said there are 15 cases of the coronavirus and soon they'll disappear.

It will depend on the trends of Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations in my community, and medical opinions on whether or not it's reasonably safe to go maskless. And of course the governor's and mayor's directives, and the policies of the barbershop.

  8. The same thing I'm always smoking. It's pretty good stuff too. Atlanta no-name buds, but if I was going to give it a name, it'd be Biden. It turns me into a blithering idiot and I forget where I am.

But I still think Trump will win again, easily. Especially since he doesn't have to face Bernie.

“There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.”

I feel like Biden stands (or stood) a better chance with the moderate crowd. Granted there are so many new voters who tend to favor liberal views like Bernie's, but that's only if they turn out to vote. It's a little weird now though and more unpredictable as to how some of his base will react when there are more allegations or the already existent one resurfaces.

  12. The thing is that it's his party doing the most damage to Biden's campaign. Trump can sit on his ass and win this.

That would be amazing. I have a feeling people are going to keep Trump and wait him out in hopes of putting another dem in office in 2024. After all, look at the dems playing field, and what do they offer? To see what they really offer, just look where they rule now. Every place dems are in charge has high unemployment, high taxes, punishing regulations, bad public schools that even THEY don't want their own kids attending....
And what kind of states are people leaving in droves....? Why, those where dems and their policies have had the rule for years. The top places where people move out are controlled by liberal/leftist policy-makers, and they also have all those problems associated with bad policies mentioned above.

Sorry, hon, but I'll be surprised if Joe wins anything but a Darwin Award. I'd be shocked if America wants to see what he will do in office, much less who he'd bring with him as VP. There isn't anyone trust-worthy to run with him. That's my opinion, and I'm surrounded by people who agree with YOU.

If you're right and I'm wrong, I'll come down with wine and a foot massage for you, but I think you're gonna' be disappointed.

From small business owners in areas that have "re-opened", customers aren't showing up as they expected. People are AFRAID of catching and/or spreading corona virus and dying from it or killing their family members. Businesses can open their doors …………… but that does NOT guarantee a normal flow of customers.

And let me say this …………….. contrary to what some idiotic, unknowing nut-jobs have claimed on TV ……………….. a business owner CAN LEGALLY refuse to allow someone to enter their store, business, or shop if they require a mask to be worn before entering the premises. "No shirt, no shoes, no service" is legal, and so is the mask requirement. So is "No smoking in the building or on the premises." But the loud-mouthed, unthinking types will remain just that.

Unless the "more and more" allegations have more substance, probably not much reaction.

I think that there's lots of support from people who remember him from the Obama presidency, older voters who identify with a more moderate approach/policies, and of course the biggest thing that he has going for him is that he isn't President Trump.

I think he has a decent chance at winning, but he certainly doesn't appear to be being very proactive. Maybe he's waiting until later because he can't outspend Trump...

  17. That strategy failed in 2016. A new one must be adopted or it will happen again.

Keep that in mind. It's gonna come down to "the economy, stupid", and Mnuchin's estimate of a third quarter comeback seems wildly optimistic.

    I think it's different now.

Everyone saw that we're serious about getting him out of there too. He's been impeached. That much is true. I think that will be what older democrats remember. And maybe some republicans too.

What would be a dream come true is if democrats gained control of the Senate. :D
