Since you were defending Trump, I thought it would be appropriate to phrase my reply in the same kind of language Trump would use. See his phraseology on Covid-19 and bleach supra, or his remarks that the virus is the Democrats' hoax.. What kind of Moron could infer from my comment that I said all Trump voters are Morons? A Trump defender?

 

We already know he will literally say anything to please his base of support.

I'm sure he meant to be preaching racial harmony, but it sounds kinda divisive to me--in fact, like a dog whistle to a certain element of his base. Like his "both sides" remark at Charlottesville.

Thing is, Wrat, that many of us would recognize that the words you quoted ("what was actually said") were confusing and easily misinterpreted--like the fine print in a real estate contract. And to dwell on Trump's past economic accomplishments without mention of his present failures and his unprecedented record of spreading discord, is like gilding a turd. I do agree with you on this. Because of apathy, no one under fifty has any political clout. I would limit the maximum age to run at 65.

It's not just that I don't like Trump. It's that I think he's the most dangerous demagogue ever to occupy the White House, an admirer of dictators, who shows contempt for the rule of law, is assiduoulsy packing the courts with partisans, has tried to mobilize the military against American protestors, and one who uses similar tactics to those dictators you mention. We have armed bands of "patriots" showing up at state capitols to intimidate our elected officials. The appeals to ethno-nationalism and populism, scapegoating of out groups, and the cult of personality surrounding him are like nothing we've seen before in a president. One more term and dictatorship here we come.

 

Short answer: because they won the primaries. As I recall, Biden was competing against 27 other candidates, some much, much younger than he. His principal rival, though, Bernie, was even older! And in 2016, 16 younger Republicans ran against Trump. Apparently, the voters are looking for grandfather figures (or grandmother. Hillary was in her late 60s, and Elisabeth is 70).

 

I am aware of above the second part was actually for Flagme 15 but its all good

 

so what has trump actually done?

So, what has Trump done? Show me

 

He hasn't built the wall
Hasn't provided a new health care program(one of the top priorities of the 'murican public)
He hasn't drained the swamp
Hasn't come to a nuclear accord with NK

What the opinion piece(and that's what is was) left out:

His decimation of the environment
His debasement of human life(people who are not citizens)
His childish behavior
His mental illness
His trade policies which hurt only 'murican farmers, but consumers as well
